Overview
The Great Wall of China is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but most parts of the wall have been heavily restored. This full-day tour from Beijing visits the Simatai section, the last part of the original Ming wall, as well as the traditional Gubei Water Town. Hotel pickup is included.

Your tour begins with pickup from your central Beijing hotel between 6am and 6.30am. Traveling aboard a comfortable coach, take in the scenery on the around 2.5-hour journey, during which you’ll be served a light breakfast on-board.
The first stop of the day is the Gubei Water Town, where you’ll have time to explore the historic town with its maze-like hutongs (alleyways) and scenic waterways. While you’re there, perhaps peek into the handicrafts workshops, visit a Chinese wine distillery, or see a traditional martial arts performance.
After a break for lunch (own expense), continue to the Simatai section of the Great Wall. Listen as your guide explains how the wall was first constructed in the 6th century and later rebuilt by General Qi Jiguang of the Ming Dynasty - it is now the only remaining section of the original wall. You will have ample time to walk part of the 3.4-mile (5.4-kilometer) wall, admire the views from the towers, and take plenty of photos.

Itinerary
First, you will visit the Gubei Water Town, which is located far away from the outside busy world - Beijing. After an authentic Chinese lunch and a break, you will continue your trip to the Simatai Great Wall in Miyun County(120 kilometers from Beijing). It is the only section of the Great Wall that has preserved the original Ming Dynasty architecture. You tour guide will take you through the most beautiful and breathtaking Great Wall along the way.
Simatai Great Wall was first constructed in the 6th century and later rebuilt by General Qi Jiguang of the Ming Dynasty. This section is 5.4 kilometers in length and has 35 beacon towers and the steepness of the wall is the distinctive features of Simatai. In 1987 Simatai Great Wall was enlisted into UNESCO Heritage Sites. The most fantastic part of this Great Wall tour is taking you back in time to the golden ages of imperial China. You surely will learn some interesting history about Ming Dynasty.
