Take a look around this massive public gathering spot, known as one of the largest public squares in the world, as you check out landmarks like the National Museum of China, Zhengyang Gate, Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, Arrow Tower, Tiananmen Tower, Great Hall of the People, and the Monument to the People’s Heroes.

Leave Tiananmen and continue to the Imperial Palace, more commonly known as the “Forbidden City.” Learn about the construction and renovation of this ancient royal landmark, exploring its creation in 1406 and subsequent destructions and renovations. After the Forbidden City, you’ll head to the Temple of Heaven, a famous complex of ceremonial buildings used by the Qing and Ming emperors to pray for good harvests and peace.

Take a break around midday for an included lunch, then proceed to the Summer Palace, known to be one of the country’s largest imperial gardens. Learn about the Palace’s role in the Qing Dynasty, and discover why the palace was destroyed by the British and French troops in the 19th century. At the end of your excursion you’ll be dropped off back at your Beijing hotel.

This tour was great and a lot of walking but it was worth the walk. Liz, our tour guide speaks good english. She's friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable of the history. She even gave us a souvenier from her hometown. It's a very beautiful flower vase and of course, i took it with me here in Norway. So sweet and thoughtful of her. Highly recommended tour. Worth the price. She followed all the places and things that was on the itirenary and she even took us to this restaurant that specializes in dumplings. It was really good and tasty. That is why, it was worth the money. The only thing, is that, one cannot go inside the Palace in the forbidden city : because we are used in going inside the Palace and see and admire the beauty inside, just like most Palaces here in Europe. but the overall experience was great. : thumbs up
