So Very Memorable; Thierry Made History Come Alive For Us!
ERIK_T
, Oct 2021
Thierry was our guide/driver and was native to the area and not only knew his D-Day history but relayed it to us all in a very personal and memorable way. He made history come alive for us. Seeing the fog lift over Pointe du Hoc in the early morning gave us a feel for what the Germans might have envisioned on June 6 1944 when the Allied naval armada approached the D Day shores. The cliffs the 101st scaled seemed unsurmountable. As a former member of the 101st Airborne, it brought back memories of mine from my days at Fort Campbell, KY and of the units there that participated in that invasion.

Great tour with lots of history

Great tour with a lot of detail literally walking the areas that are shown on the show and have so much history. Pierre was an exceptional guide & the tour was comfortable and informative-- so great to have a car take you around to the different spots which would be near impossible to do on your own.

Best small group tour I have EVER done
Jonna_M
, Oct 2021
The Band of Brothers tour was recommended by a couple of acquaintances before our visit. Since the online reviews were also excellent, I booked this tour for myself and a friend as a 2 day side trip from our 10 day stay in Paris. We were met promptly at the scheduled time. There were eight of us in our tour group and we fit snugly but comfortably in the Overlord Tour van. The van was very clean and a comfortable ride. The tour was from 8:20am-6pm. It was a bit of a dreary day which was very appropriate for this tour. Take an umbrella and layers if it is a chilly day. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking on dirt, grass and sand. It was difficult at times hearing what the guide was saying for the three of us sitting in the back row. The stop for lunch gives you time to find lunch on your own and explore a small local museum before meeting back at the van at 1:45 PM. Our guide, Thierry, made this tour a one of a kind experience. It was the best group tour experience I have ever had. Thierry was born and raised in the area. He shared personal stories from his grandparents who lived through the war. As we stood on Omaha beach discussing what happened there, a local man on his regular walk waived his greetings to the group. Thierry tells us he was 10 years old at the time of the war. We had a diverse group including the two of us without any history background, a group of 4 retired friends (one historian) traveling together and another couple doing the tour for “his day” on their vacation. I will definitely do this tour again when I return with my husband. We arrived by train from Paris on Wednesday about 1pm, dropped our stuff at the hotel, explored Bayeux a bit, had dinner at La Rapiere (wonderful), stayed at the Hotel Tardiff Noble Guest House (lovely property but stuffy rude hotelier who seemed quite put off/irritated by his guests) and were able to easily make the 6:25pm train back to Paris. At the start of the day, Thierry asked if anyone had a train to catch and he was kind enough to drop us directly in front of our hotel so we could collect our baggage and get to the train station

Even if you think you know it all, take this tour

I can not recommend this tour enough. You will experience many of the highlights of the battle of Normandy, including Omaha Beach, Point de Hoc, the Normandy American Cemetery, and much more. And the second half of the tour is a treat to all BoB fans, as you will visit the Airborne Museum in Sainte Mère Église, Brécourt Manor, key locations in Carentan, etc. Our tour guide, Charles, was genuinely passionate and had an exhaustive knowledge about the subject matter. If you are fortunate enough to visit Normandy and are a WW2 history buff, I highly recommend this tour.

A fantastic tour with Jordan
GCP
, Sep 2021
Thanks to Jordan our guide the entire day was a memorable and moving experience! We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to take the Viator Overlord Tour of the Normandy Beaches. We were even more fortunate to have Jordan as our guide for this fabulous tours. Not only is Jordan a very pleasant and friendly guy, but also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to D-Day and the Normandy invasion. Jordan brought the events of D-Day to life for us which made the tour more meaningful using detailed maps and photographs of D-Day. So if you are in France and wish to take a tour of the Normandy Beaches and the American Cemetery, do yourself a favor and book the Viator Overlord tour and request Jordan as your guide.

Memorable Day

Excellent tour! We loved our guide, Thierry, and his expert, passionate account of the D-Day happenings. Quite thorough explanation of events leading up to, during, and after. What was most impressive was access to now privately owned locations that played a pivotal role. If you are a WWII history buff, then this tour is for you, and make sure you ask for Thierry.

The tour was awesome. To be able to.go to.tbe beaches on Normandy and see what the soldiers had to go through was sobering. Also, the best part was being able to follow ez-companies footsteps through the battles after d-day.
