Overview

Escape the urban streets of Barcelona for the tranquil mountain air of Montserrat. This tour begins with a comfortable ride from the city to the Montserrat monastery with its famous Black Madonna. You’ll travel by cable car to the top of the mountain, where you’ll have a chance to explore the impressive rock formations on foot. On weekdays at 1pm you may hear the monastery’s celebrated boys’ choir.

A nice day, is very scenic driving up, instead of travelling by train. Guide knowledgeable and very passionate about this Monastery. I had to change my tour date ( due to insufficient numbers), and disappointingly missed the experience of seeing the famous boys choir. ( so check if asked to change dates )

Great Break from the Big City

We loved our half day Montserrat tour. It was an amazing break from Barcelona and so nice to get out into nature. The Monastery was beautiful and the hike lead to breath taking views. The hike was a little intense and not suitable to those with limited mobility, in wheelchairs, or with strollers. The paths are well maintained, but very steep at times. Our tour guide Magalí was wonderful and very knowledgable of the area and sites. She was very friendly and was willing to answer any and all questions, even those about Spain and Catalan culture.

Debacle- poorly trained tour guide

The tour was a mess from the start; the driver couldn't find the keys to the minivan (that 8 of us were riding in). After an hour or so of driving, the driver/tour guide realized he was lost. The tour itself was very amateur-ish. The tour that was supposed to end at 2pm, ended at 5pm due to the errors by the tour guide (kind of reminds me of Gilligan and the 3 hour tour). Such poor planning and execution is unacceptable. No apologies from Viator, of course.

Barbera has a fantastic host and guide. What a great trip to a fantastic place, we arrived early which was well worth the 8.15 start from Barcelona. The atmosphere in the whole place was inspiring, visiting the Black Madona followed by a walk to the cross marking the cave it was found, brilliant.

Tranquility, amazing legends, beautiful Nature, spiritual music, real history and a great great guide! This tour was above and beyond our expectations.
