Merak was a great guide. Everything went smoothly and on time. Loved going up the mountain and had enough free time to see and do what we wanted. Winery was lovely .

Hi Kathy!

Many thanks for stopping by! Merak will be happy to see how much you enjoyed the tour :) Castlexperience’s routes to Montserrat and the winery offer different schedules so you can choose the most suitable one for you according to your timings and interests. But all of them, half day and full day tours, are designed to be a complete experience with a dynamic timetable and a relaxed vibe. We see you chose a half day tour with the cogwheel train ride, and you really made the most out of it! Half day tours don’t include as much free time in Montserrat as full day tours, but they offer more than enough time (around 1.5 hours) to explore the place on your own!

Oh! We almost forgot to mention the most important fact: all of our tours include wine ;) Thank you for joining our crew!

Bon dia, Richard!

Thank yuo so much for recommending our tours! Ana will love to know much fun you had with her :) Spending a day away of the city, in touch with nature and enjoying some tasty local food and wine is not a bad plan at all, right? Especially, as you said, with the company of local, funny and knowledgeable guides! We’re happy you had such a great time :)

Great day trip

Our guide was lovely, very knowledgeable and really enjoyed listening to her history of Barcelona and Montserrat. Wine tasting was lovely as was the winery, thought the tapas could have been better and should maybe have opted for the lunch option instead. Pick up and drop off in centre of Barcelona ideal, journey good and coach nice and clean.

Hi there! Many thanks for posting on our profile! We’re glad to see you enjoyed the experience :) And especially the guiding skills! The winery you visited is quite special, right? The history of the family is amazing, and the place itself is stunning, all surrounded by vineyards and forests, and with the serrated shape of Montserrat presiding the horizon :) The tasting comes right after the visit to the cellar, and half day tours include some tapas to pair the three wines sampled. The tapas are meant to be more like a brunch than a lunch. We’re sad to read they didn’t live up to the expectations! We’re constantly working on improving every single detail of our tour, so thank you for your feedback! The lunch option you comment is part of the full day and late start tours, and it consists on a three-course menu in a restaurant. Both options are meant to offer a gastronomical approach to the local food! Thank you for choosing our tours :)

Montserrat

The tour started with Sergio as our guide from Barcelona to Montserrat. He was an excellent guide with a great sense of humor and knowledge of Barcelona and Montserrat. In Montserrat we took a cogwheel train to Montserrat Monastery to view the black virgin and listen to the boys choir. Very well done. The second half of our tour was with Silvia who was also a fantastic guide with a great sense of humor and knowledge of her country. We had a lovely lunch and then toured the Oller Del Mas winery and tasted three different wines. The entire day was super. Kuddos to Sergio and Silvia for such a wonderful experience.

¡Hola, Tony! Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience! Sergio and Silvia will love to read you thoroughly enjoyed the tour :) The Extended Montserrat, Tapas & Wine tour and the Late Start Montserrat, Food & Wine tour (the one you chose) reach Montserrat’s basilica by taking the cogwheel train at the feet of the mountain. It is a very nice ride; the views are stunning! After visiting Montserrat and enjoying some free time there, the late start tour makes a stop in a nearby restaurant to enjoy a three-course meal lunch. The menu offered in the restaurant is prepared with seasonable and local products and accompanied with wine ;) We’re very happy to read it was a lovely experience! And as you well said, right after a nice lunch it is time for the tasting! The winery you visited, Oller del Mas, is a small, familiar and organic winery located in a beautiful scenario! Relaxing there while tasting three delicious and local wines in such an amazing place is a great way to finish the tour, don’t you think? Thank you so much for stopping by!

This tour was excellent! The whole tour is very well organized and timely. Our tourguide Sergio was the friendliest and funniest guide! We spent a great day and the visit to Montserratt and the winery were perfect!

¡Hola, Ines! Thank you for stopping by! Sergio will be glad to know how much you enjoyed his tour :) In our opinion, there are two ways of traveling: one is to visit and the other one is live an experience. And the best memories come from the second one! That is exactly what our tours are meant to be, great experiences! If you ever come back to Barcelona, don’t forget to pass by the Hard Rock Café and say hi to us!

A highlight of our trip to Barcelona!
Bon_dia
, Feb 2020
This was certainly a highlight of our trip to Barcelona! The central meeting location of Plaza Catalunya was easy to find and the bus ride into the countryside was pleasant and easy. The guide, Marta, was wonderful providing humor and great history! Montserrat is absolutely beautiful with plenty to do from visiting the monastery, the famous statue of Mary, as well as take in the incredible views. The ride to the winery was easy and the wine and tapas tasting was quite nice. It was nice to learn more about the wine region. All in all, a great trip!
icon Response from Host , Feb 2020
Hi there! It seems everything went great on your tour! Marta will love to know how much fun you had :) Barcelona is an amazing city with very interesting things to do and visit, but escaping the noisy center for a while to relax and discover the countryside is a great idea! We think combining Montserrat and a wine tasting is a very complete formula! It offers the chance to keep on learning about the local culture and history, as well as the opportunity to enjoy some nice wines and learn about the local ay of winemaking! Thank you so much for posting!

Best day of our vacation!

This trip was amazing! Rubi was so friendly and personable and had so much knowledge to share about Montserrat, the winery, and Barcelona. The wine and food was amazing! I’m so glad we visited with this tour group because I have a much better understanding and appreciation for the history of the city. Highly recommend!!!!! Rubi is the best!!!
icon Response from Host , Feb 2020
¡Hola, Ellen! Many thanks for your recommendation! Rubí will love to read how much you enjoyed his tour :) Besides being the most amazing and funniest guides ever, all Castlexperience’s guiding team has another thing in common, and that is they are locals! Is not only they know about the culture of the region, but they live it and love it too! To spend the day with them is the best and funniest way to really get to know the history of the city :) Especially if we add some nice gastronomy and delicious wines to the experience, right? We are super honored you consider this tour the best day of your vacation!

Good experience
Krystal
, Feb 2020
Really enjoyed this tour! Montserrat is absolutely breathtaking and my tour guides Jordi & Sergio were amazing!! And the wine and food provided were both outstanding. The only reason this isn’t 5 starts is because I was disappointed to only have an hour to explore the monastery. I didn’t have enough time to see everything and it was a bit upsetting.
icon Response from Host , Feb 2020
¡Hola, Krystal! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! Sergio and Jordi will love to know it :) We’re very happy to read how much you enjoyed the tapas and the wine! Although we are a bit sad you didn’t feel like you had enough time in Montserrat. Many of our tours go to Montserrat & the winery, but in our catalogue, we include different timings for these tours. There are half day tours and full day tours, and all of them include free time in Montserrat. Full day tours though, offer more than 2 hours of free time; and half days, around 1 hour. Probably, you would have enjoyed better a full day tour! We always recommend to look at all the timetables options before choosing, to make sure you’re picking the timing that matches your preferences. But overall, we’re very happy to know you enjoyed the experience :)
