Walking Barcelona

This tour was spectacular! Our guide was superb. I over looked the fact that our tour company’s is “Walk” when this 74 year old signed up for this tour. It wasn’t until we met up with our guide Javier that we began to understand we would be spending the better part of the next seven hours walking the streets of Barcelona. Clearly if you have major impediments to walking this tour might not be for you. If, however, you can walk three to four miles over a day with a variety of rest stops the tour should be no trouble. We had an excellent tour guide. Javier is from Barcelona and clearly loves both his city and what he does. We had about 12 people in our group from a variety of countries. He made a point to get to know each of us and took special pains to interact with us all throughout the day. He understands his community and perhaps even more understands what is important to his clients. He is entertaining, knowledgeable about his subject and a wide range of other topics. We could not have been happier. The tour covers a number of the must do sites in Barcelona and a variety of others along the way. The first stop was Sagrada Familla Gaudi’s triumphant architectural masterpiece. From there we took the subway to two other buildings designed by the master. We stopped by the government buildings for both Barcelona and the regional government Catalonia which prompted an explanation of the current civil unrest by supporters of a free Catalonia. After viewing the Barcelona Cathedral we visited the local markets where we had lunch on our own at one of the local Tapas bars. Returning to the tour we visited both the Jewish and Gothic quarters with explanations about the significance of each. Before ending the walking tour at the waterfront we visited the Santa Maria Del Mar Basilica. The Cathedral of the Sea with its own unique place in Catalonian history. The day finished with a sail around the port and shoreline view of the Barcelona coast and skyline. We can’t say enough about this tour and would highly recommend it.

Hello acurtb, Thank you so much for your glowing recommendation of our Barcelona in a Day tour, and our wonderful guide Javier! We truly love to hear that our guests felt welcomed and looked after by our guides, and it sounds like Javier did an excellent job. While this tour could definitely be considered a long day, our guides are trained to pace the tour according to our guests' abilities. We think anyone with a reasonable amount of fitness, be they young or a little more mature, will enjoy this day out in Barcelona! We also always welcome queries from anyone with concerns about how suitable a tour might be for them, as we love to accommodate everyone if possible.
