View the age-old relics, including the remains of a 5th-century BC aqueduct, a 2,000-year-old beehive, burial tombs, and other age-old pieces.

Next, stroll past the Greek Parliament House and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, watched over by the Evzones—the soldiers of Greece’s elite presidential guard.

Walk along bustling El. Venizelos Street, one of Athens’ most elegant avenues, and admire the handsome University of Athens, the Academy of Sciences, and the National Library. See the Numismatic Museum, home to one of the world’s greatest collections of coins, and learn how this beautiful building was once a residence of the acclaimed archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann.

After a quick metro ride, stroll to the National Archaeological Museum, Greece’s largest museum. This vast neoclassical building holds some 200,000 finds from across Greece and is arranged in five collections covering prehistoric times, ancient Greece, the Roman era and other periods.

ELIZABETH V
, Jul 2011
We were unable to see the National Archeological Museum because of the strike. However, the supplier arranged for our guide to take us to the New Acropolis Museum which was amazing! Even though transporation was disrupted, Vicki made a heroic effort to get to our hotel so that we could take the tour. Her expertise in archeology makes her an exceptional guide. We truly bonded with her. She will be a life-long friend of our family. We are so grateful to them for making our trip to Greece memorable even though the city was practically shut down due to the strike. They are amazing!
