Amazing Tour of the Gardens

Great visit to Keukendof Gardens, the tulips, orchids and the variation of flowers were all worth the trip. It was absolutely beautiful. As for the Zaanse Schans Windmill Village, it was okay but I would skip it in favor of something else.

REVIEW OF AMSTERDAM COMBO BOOKING
Ibrahim B

I had booked for this trip on 19th April, as early as the month of February itself and we were looking eagerly forward for this dream trip. Although we reported well before time at the scheduled pick-up point, no vehicle arrived. We contacted the travel service contact number which was printed on the ticket. To our shock, we were informed that the the pick up vehicle has already left before the scheduled time and so we could arrange a taxi by ourselves to Keukenhof. If we are lucky to meet the travel group at Keukenhof, they will assist you further. Our payment shall be refunded anyway. This was the reply given to us. Although we expressed our difficulty in arranging taxi by paying more, they expressed their inability to do anything more. Eventually, having come all the way, we arranged a taxi and went around the place on our own. Even though we may eventually be paid a refund, our trauma in being let alone after making reservation well in advance can never be compensated. Moreover, we had to pay much more and also had to rush through the visit as we were late and had to catch the evening train to Paris. We never expected such a mis-management from Viator and strongly suspect a foul play in this connection.

Loved the Gardens. Beautiful, relaxing. The windmills at Zaanse were pretty. However, just souvenir shops.

While weather is uncontrollable, it is everything for this tour. The weather was beautiful. On the second week of opening, fields of tulips and other flowers were wonderful. The gardens themselves were spectacular. The Windmill village was so much fun. Seeing the clog making and cheese making were so enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour.

Amsterdam - Gardens and Windmill Village.

The gardens are just amazing, we were there the first day they opened this year, they're only open for 2 months each year. So much to see in 4 hours, which I thought I would be bored after the first hour, but no, you need all that time. Zaanse Schans also worth the visit, lovely village, great seeing the goats there as well. Best waffles ever and hot chocolate at The Bakery, so fresh. They would be better having only pick up point, so much time wasted stopping at 2 different spots and swapping people going on different tours. One pick up place and everyone gets on the bus assigned for that tour, would have saved us personally 1.5 hours in the morning. They only have 1 drop off point!

The Keukenhof Gardens were amazing...

The Keukenhof Gardens were amazing and I appreciated the amount of time we had there. The bus driver took a unofficial way to the garden and we got to see the many fields that supply the garden. We had about an hour wait for our bus to appear at the Eye Museum/Tower and several groups took off before us. The guide gave adequate history of the garden and how tulips got to the Netherlands. I thought the tour was English only but he had to give the dialogue in German as well. The ZaanseSchans Windmill Viilage was interesting as well, but I thought the guide did not give very good info about the mills and didn't tell us of the Museum which could have been interesting. The cheese place was interesting and the inclusion of wooden shoe making was interesting, but I thought we should have been told about these ventures ahead of time. I could have missed it!

As for the two locations visited...

As for the two locations visited, they were well worth the time and money. The tour operator is where things fell apart. The gardens are 45 minutes from the departure point. In Amsterdam, with a slight delay in departure time we arrived at the park around 10:15 and had a departure time of 2:30. This gave us ample time to visit the park completely and at our leasure. At 2:30 we returned to the departure point to collect guests that were only visiting Zaanse Schans Village. Therefore another 45 minutes or so to return with traffic and then another 30 minutes to get to the village. With delays we arrived at the village shortly after 4 to be told that the windmill visits were closing at 4:30. Then around 5 the shops in the village started to close for the day and by 6 pm the village was shut down. Therefore the visit to the village was both rushed and caiotic. My suggestion would be to start the tour earlier in the morning and go to the village directly from the gardens. Its à 45 minute ride between the two, saving at least 30 mints of bus time. I had the distinct feeling that the company was more interested in filling buses than the visitors experience.

Keukenhof is gorgeous and the time...

Keukenhof is gorgeous and the time allowed to see all of it. Zaanse Schans is super cute and gives you a great overview of Dutch culture with the cheese, shoe making, and windmills. Its great that it is still a town where people live and work.

A unusually cold spring day to go to...

A unusually cold spring day to go to the gardens and be outside. That said the gardens were everything said about them and more. The gardens were just great. Would go again. The tour was very good but the gardens was what the tour was about. Don't miss a chance to see the gardens.

Fantastic visit to the gardens. No...

Fantastic visit to the gardens. No one should miss it. Zaanse Schans Windmill Village was too commercial. Never saw what windmills are used for. Can buy the cheese and clogs anywhere in Amsterdam. Didn't know they were going to drop us off at A'dam Tower and leave us there to figure out how to get back on our own.
