The Singel is a canal in Amsterdam which encircled the city in the Middle Ages. It served as a moat around the city until 1585, when Amsterdam expanded beyond the Singel. The canal runs from the IJ bay, near the Central Station, to the Muntplein square, where it meets the Amstel river. It is now the inner-most canal in Amsterdam's semicircular ring of canals.
You tour by boat to Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, has more than one hundred kilometers of grachten (canals), about 90 islands and 1,500 bridges. The three main canals (Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht), dug in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, form concentric belts around the city, known as the Grachtengordel. Alongside the main canals are 1550 monumental buildings. The 17th-century canal ring area, including the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht and Jordaan, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, contributing to Amsterdam's fame as the "Venice of the North
The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a writer's house and biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Het Scheepvaartmuseum| The National Maritime Museum
The museum is dedicated to maritime history and contains many artefacts associated with shipping and sailing. The collection contains, among other things, paintings, scale models, weapons and world maps. The paintings depict Dutch naval officers such as Michiel de Ruyter and historical sea battles.
The map collection includes works by 17th-century cartographers Willem Blaeu and his son Joan Blaeu. The museum also has a surviving copy of the first edition of Maximilianus Transylvanus' work, De Moluccis Insulis, the first to describe Ferdinand Magellan's voyage around the world.
A houseboat (different from boathouse, which is a shed for storing boats) is a boat that has been designed or modified to be used primarily as a home. Some houseboats are not motorized, because they are usually moored, kept stationary at a fixed point and often tethered to land to provide utilities. However, many are capable of operation under their own power. Float house is a Canadian and American term for a house on a float (raft); a rough house may be called a shanty boat. In Western countries, houseboats tend to be either owned privately or rented out to holiday-goers, and on some canals in Europe, people dwell in houseboats all year round. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, Amsterdam, London, and Paris
My partner and I loved every minute of this canal pizza cruise. The staff were very friendly, the tour information was interesting and the food and unlimited drinks were delicious. We would definitely recommend this cruise!
Sadly I feel this is ‘bigged up’ on site to what it really is... we had no clue we would be sharing our table with another couple (as Valentine’s Day would have paid more to have own table) staff were very nice but, I thought it would have been more informative as we went down the canal... only a couple of bits pointed out and on site pics etc make out you would see key points of Amsterdam- it wasn’t like this at all unfortunately... nice trip to do but wouldn’t go back to this one :(
The Canals Pizza Cruise was just awesome. A unique experience to tour through the canals at night and see the City. Several opportunities to take pictures including the spot where the 6 bridges align. Pizza was tasty and unlimited wine is always a plus!!
This is one of the best canal cruises I have ever been on. Angela was absolutely brilliant in every way. Her hosting skills and interpersonal skills are fantastic. The food was lovely and our drinks were constantly being topped up. The commentary throughout the cruise was also very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour and would definitely do it again.
