They take out the concentrate (called nira) of the coconut flower (called manggar) as arrow material of the palm sugar then it is heated and stirred on the pan with wooden fire during 2 hours. It takes around 2 hours, the good news is we do not use fabric but wooden craft (mask or puppet). It is very unique, as we know that mostly batik made on fabric. Wayang Kulit (Shadow/Leather Puppet) is one of the traditional Javanese arts that is still maintained until now. Wayang Kulit is made of cowhide which has been processed into sheet shapes. This skin is then carved very carefully using pointed steel to form body parts. These parts will then be compiled and incorporated into puppet characters. To go through this process, you will be guided by an experienced craftsman who will make you feel the complexity of the process of making leather puppets. In this trip you will be making fabric based (traditional) Batik. Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique, originated from Indonesia, Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting, or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to colour selectively by soaking the cloth in one colour, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colours are desired. Indonesian batik made in the island of Java has a long history of acculturation, with diverse patterns influenced by a variety of cultures, and is the most developed in terms of pattern, technique, and the quality of workmanship. In October 2009, UNESCO designated Indonesian batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
