How to Spend 2 Days in Victoria
Make the most of two days in Victoria by strolling the waterfront, wandering Butchart Gardens, sipping Vancouver Island wine, and taking a whale-watching adventure.
Exhibitions showcase Bateman’s wildlife paintings, sculptures, and drawings. With both originals and reproductions on display, you can see a comprehensive collection of his works, including a number of rare pieces. Highlights include the Birdsong Gallery, where Bateman’s bird portraits are brought to life with interactive birdsong audio, and an ever-changing programme of exhibits that tend to feature works by both Bateman and other notable wildlife artists and photographers.
There is an admission fee to enter the Robert Bateman Centre, with discounted entrance for under 18s and over 65s.
Free street parking is available for up to 90 minutes outside of the gallery.
The museum is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
The Robert Bateman Centre is located in the Steamship Terminal in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. It’s a short walk from most downtown attractions or else a number of buses stop along the harbor.
The center is open daily year-round, but guided tours are only held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Regardless of what time you visit, you’re likely to enjoy minimal crowds.
