Upon entering this area we can appreciate the huge walls that make up the Huaca del Sol and almost half a kilometer we will see the imposing Huaca de La Luna. Our tour will take place in the Huaca de La Luna, for which it will be necessary to climb a slope of steps until you arrive at the front door. Then we will enter with our local guide and go through the different levels of the pyramid. According to the archaeologists in the Pyramid of the Moon, the Moches consulted oracles and offered human sacrifices, which are easily visible through the friezes found there. It is an impressive religious monument and ceremonial center which was also used for administrative purposes. You will then visit the Chan Chan archaeological complex, the largest mud city of the Americas and the most important city of the Chimú culture, which has an area of approximately 20 kilometers square. Its central area is formed by a group of ten walled premises (called 'citadels') and other independent pyramids. Its pyramidal structure served to perform ceremonies related to rain and fertility. Continue your walk at Chan Chan; the impressive mud city declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Considered the capital of the Chimu culture, it is composed of nine citadels that cover an area of more than 20 square kilometres and make it the largest in America. The details on its walls reflect the great work done in its construction and that has remained more than a thousand years until today. The last point of the tour is Huanchaco, one of Trujillo's most traditional beaches and famous for totora horses: boats made of vegetable fibres that artisanal fishers use to navigate between the waves of the Pacific.
