The Basics

The Sydney Opera House is a highlight of any city tour or harbor cruise, and it’s well worth an up-close look, too. It’s best explored as part of a guided tour, either a guided walking option that hits highlights of the building's history and architecture or an in-depth tour that goes backstage to concert halls, green rooms, and studios usually off-limits to visitors.

Given that this is a functioning performance venue, visitors can also experience the Opera House by attending a show, whether pairing a theater performance with dinner as part of an evening package, or dining along the waterfront before a night of ballet.

Sydney Opera House Official Guided Walking Tour
Loved learning about the construction and the change in the architects. With Covid and unable to use I’m assuming lifts, we were required to use stairs, the timeframe of the tour needs to be increased slightly to allow for this especially for older people.

Opera Performance at the Sydney Opera House
Beautiful building & Sutherland Hall. Too bad we couldn't see the other hall too. Gounod's Faust was an excellent performance.

Private Sydney Half Day Tour including Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach
Jason picked us up from the hotel and took us all over town. He took us to Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House, and other main attractions around Sydney. He was knowledgeable, professional, and humorous. We totally enjoyed this tour and felt like we understood the area better when the tour was over. When we were done he returned us to our hotel. It was a great way to see Sydney in 4 hours.

Such an exciting evening, a highlight in our month of travel in Australia. Faust was excellent- unique - not just singing but classical ballet, modern dance , extraordinary choreography!

Sydney Shore Excursion: Sydney Opera House Walking Tour
Very interesting! Seeing all the venues except Performance Hall which was under renovation was so fascinating. The attention to detail with both the structure design and interior design is mind blowing! Our guide, Jessie, was charming and so informative. The history about the architect Otzen and the political turmoil that short changed him was heartbreaking. This is a must do I’m Sydney. Just taking pics of the exterior is just not enough.

La Bohème at the Sydney Opera House
This is a relatively short opera with a sweet story. The singers/actors were wonderful. Good price and easy to exchange voucher for the tickets. Subtitles are provided above the stage.
