Cycling Cambodia- Life Changing Adventures with Social Cycles

Cambodia is an amazing country to cycle across. From the chaos of the Phnom Penh to the calm of the countryside, Cambodia is easy to fall in love with. The days are long, the country is hot and the people are super friendly. From the constant and random “HELLO!!” from the children on the side of the road, to the Community Development programs set up by the truly selfless and unsung heroes of this world. Travelling Cambodia by bike is an incredible adventure! We cycle from Siem Reap and finish in either Phnom Penh (seven days). The pace of all our tours is relaxed and casual. There’s always time to stop for a photo and we rarely cycle more than 2 days in a row. When the journey is just as good as the destination, there’s no need to rush!

Half Day Cycling through the Countryside

Available tomorrow

Half Day Cycling through the Countryside

In search for a more leisurely way to see what lies beyond the Angkor temples? Siem Reap’s landscape, dotted with reminders of the great Kingdom that once was seen as the centre of the universe, has long been overshadowed by the popularity of its temple grandeur…and for reasons unknown. Using well-maintained bicycles, and for a couple of hours, let us show you why nobody can miss out on the rural side of Cambodia’s most fabled tourism destination. Unlike following in the royal footsteps of renowned Kings of a bygone era, we venture over and across untrod-den roads and unpaved thoroughfares to quaint little villages and little-known remains of the Angkor Era.

West Baray Cycling Tour

Available tomorrow

West Baray Cycling Tour

West Baray or Baray Teuk Thla “clear water Baray” is one of two enormous reservoirs found in the Angkor Archeological Park. West Baray, as the name suggests, is found west of the walled city of Angkor Thom. An identical reservoir was built to the east. Construction began in the 11th century during the reign of King Suryavarman I, and it was completed under King Udayadityavarman II, who also built the Baphuon Temple. Baray in Khmer means reservoir. West Baray is rectangular in shape and measures 7.8 kilometers by 2.1 kilometers making it, along with East Baray, two of the largest hand-cut reservoirs ever constructed on earth. In West Baray, an artificial island was created called West Mebon on which a Hindu Temple was built. In modern times, a lock was built in the West Baray’s southern dike, raising the water level for irrigation south to the rice fields toward Tonle Sap Lake.
