Oak Creek Canyon, AZ

The Basics

A scenic drive through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon is well worth the effort whether or not you actually need to travel north from Sedona. Grand Canyon day trips from Sedona pass through the gorge, as do small-group tours of the Sedona area (along with visits to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Airport Mesa) and multi-day itineraries through Arizona.

Grand Canyon Day Tour with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon
If you only have one day to see the Grand Canyon, take this tour! My tour guide Tyson was so knowledgeable, I learned fascinating facts and stories I never would have known otherwise. The time at the Grand Canyon was perfect! Seeing Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona on the way back was also amazing. We saw SO MUCH in just one day. Highly recommend. I am so happy I did this tour.

Grand Canyon Day Tour with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon
Chris was our guide and he was excellent. Very personable and knowledgeable. We were delayed in entering the canyon which pushed back our schedule but he made sure we had enough time at each stop. It is a long day but well worth it. Besides Sedona and the Grand Canyon we encountered beautiful scenery on our drive. Van was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Tyson was a great tour guide. He was knowledgeable and informative, along with having a great personality. I learned more about Arizona as a whole, which is awesome. It was as if my son and I got more of an experience than just a tour. I look forward to coming back to Arizona because of Tyson.

Grand Canyon Day Tour with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon
The travel time went by quickly, which isn’t usually the case with 3 teenagers. The Grand Canyon was amazing! It exceeded our expectations by far. We also really like Sedona and plan on making another trip to explore that area more. We felt we had the perfect amount of time at each stop. Frank was the best! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure the excursion was super fun for our entire group. This is a must!!

Grand Canyon Day Tour with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon
It was worth the drive to see the majestic views of the Grand Canyon! The tour through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon were also amazing! Our guide Taylor shared tons of stories with the group about the history, the native plant life/cacti varieties, pointed out wildlife and the different mountains we were seeing. It was a rather long day in the van, but Taylor did a great job at making sure everyone had a great experience and stopped whenever someone needed.

We loved our time! The scenery was amazing. Be prepared for a very long day. We got picked up at 6:30am and dropped off at 9:00pm. We wish we would have had more time at the canyon.

Franks "suprise" made our Grand Canyon trip so much more memorable! The day was 115 degrees and he always made sure the van was comfortable.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Oak Creek Canyon is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts, adventure travelers, and photographers.

  • Plan ahead: The drive is lovely but there aren’t many places to pull off and enjoy the scenery.

  • Be sure to bring along sun protection and plenty of drinking water, as it’s easy to get dehydrated in the arid climate.

  • Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking over uneven surfaces if you plan to get out of the car and explore.
