The Scariest Places in the World
Warning: Turn on the lights before you read this.
The brainchild of founder Walter Miguel—who was inspired by his visit to Disney World Florida—Walter World is one of the largest theme parks in northern Brazil. With more than 20 rides and attractions, it’s a great choice for a family day out.
Walter World admission tickets include access to all of the park’s attractions. If you’re a thrill-seeker, test your nerves on high-speed rollercoasters or enjoy a ride on the steam railway and a cruise along the lazy river as a family. There’s also a mini zoo home to parrots, snakes, and alligators; an Army Museum, where you can climb old military tanks; and numerous play areas for smaller children. If you want to stay longer, check into the Walter World Hotel for the night.
Admission tickets cover unlimited rides; children under three are free.
The park has a hotel and a selection of cafés, restaurants, and gift shops.
There are attractions suitable for all ages, but some rides have height or weight restrictions.
The park is wheelchair accessible, but not all of the activities are suitable for those with limited mobility.
Walter World is located around three miles (4.5 kilometers) south of Poços de Caldas. Without your own transport, the easiest way to arrive is by taxi.
Walter World is open year-round on weekends only, from 9am-5:30pm. During the Brazilian summer holidays, which span December and January, the park is particularly busy.
Most visitors are drawn to Pocos de Caldas for its natural thermal waters and spa hotels, but there are plenty of other things to do while you’re in town. Ride the cable car up to the Sao Domingos ridge for a panoramic city views; visit the town’s own Christ the Redeemer statue; and admire natural wonders such as the Veil Brides waterfall and Fontes dos Amores.
