Chile Safari Park (Parque Safari Chile) Tours and Activities

Chile Safari Park (Parque Safari Chile)
Parque Safari is an animal park and safari center that allows you to get closer to wild animals than you would at a traditional zoo. The only one of its kind in Chile, the park gives you the chance to observe giraffes, emus, lions, and animatronic dinosaurs while riding in a variety of different types of vehicles.

The Basics

Parque Safari offers a variety of different excursions: Feed zebras, giraffes, and alpacas from an open-air vehicle during the Herbivore Safari; sit inches away from tigers and lions in a protected vehicle in the Big Cats section; and travel back in time on a Jurassic Safari, which offers life-size animatronic dinosaurs.

To experience all of the park’s exhibits, opt for an all-inclusive admission ticket that covers all three types of safari. You can also enjoy the park’s gardens, lagoon, reptile house, and petting zoo, as well as zip lines, kayaks, bungee jumps, and other attractions.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • The park is a popular attraction for families and wildlife lovers.
  • A standard admission only grants you access to the gardens and animal exhibits; tickets for the safaris must be purchased separately.
  • There are several fast food stalls and restaurant at the park, as well as a picnic area.
  • If one day in the park isn’t enough, you can stay overnight in one of the lodges at Parque Safari.

How to Get There

From central Santiago, you can reach Parque Safari by car in about one hour by taking Ruta 5. You can also reach the park by public transportation (though the trip is lengthy): take the MTR from Alameda to Rancagua, then catch the 630 bus, which stops directly outside of the park.

When to Get There

Parque Safari is open Monday through Sunday, from morning to evening; last admission is one hour before the park closes. Most visitors spend about 2.5 hours enjoying the zoo’s exhibits.

A Wealth of Wildlife

Santiago has several attractions aimed at wildlife lovers. After visiting Parque Safari, head to the Chilean National Zoo, which is built into the side of San Cristóbal Hill and home to a variety of animals, such as llamas and snakes. Or check out Buin Zoo (just outside the city), which is the largest zoo in Chile and has a diverse range of wildlife and facilities.
