In recent decades San Diego has become closely associated with an excellent craft beer scene, and you can learn just why it has become so popular at the Green Flash Brewing Company.
The basics
San Diego County offers more than 200 different craft breweries and tasting rooms. Green Flash Brewing Company, founded in 2002, is located in the Mira Mesa neighborhood and is well-known for its IPAs (India Pale Ales). At the brewery, go behind the scenes and watch the master brewers in action making different beers. Visits also include the chance to taste the beers of your choice from a selection of over 30 different types. After the tour, relax in the spacious beer garden and pick up some tacos from the on-site taco truck.
Things to know before you go
- Visitors of all ages are welcome on the tour, however participants must be 21 or over to taste the beers.
- Green Flash’s best-known beers are West Coast IPA, Palate Wrecker Hamilton’s Ale, and Le Freak.
- The brewery is wheelchair accessible.
How to get there
Green Flash Brewing is in Mira Mesa, San Diego County, north of the city center. It’s accessible by car, taxi, or by bus from downtown (you may have to switch buses along the route).

Green Flash Tasting Room is open to the public daily. Tours are held in the afternoons every day except Monday. The brewery sometimes hosts special events such as quiz nights and live music performances; check the website before you visit for more details.
