With more than 3,500 animals and upwards of 750 species, the San Antonio Zoo is home to many of the world’s creatures. Walk the zoo's winding paths to encounter giraffes, lions, elephants, tigers, pelicans, hippos, crocodiles, and other creatures in habitats designed to be engaging for both you and the animals.
The San Antonio Zoo ranks among the city’s most popular family attractions. Highlights of the zoo include the world’s largest collection of birds, as well as non-animal exhibits, such as the Zootennial Carousel and San Antonio Zoo Eagle, a train that takes you from the zoo to other attractions in Brackenridge Park. Enter on a basic admission ticket or book a Fun Day Ticket that includes admission, a ride on the carousel, and a range of enhanced animal experiences.
Things to Know Before You Go

How to Get There
The zoo is open daily throughout the year, but the best times to visit are in spring and fall, when temperatures are mild. If you visit on summer weekends and public holidays, expect the grounds to be busy with local and visiting families.
When to Get There
The San Antonio Zoo is in the Brackenridge Park area of the city. The best way to arrive is by car, and parking is plentiful and free. The zoo hosts several popular festivals throughout the year, including Zoo Boo! at Halloween, Zoo Lights in late November and December, and Zoorassic Park in summer.
Conservation at the San Antonio Zoo
The San Antonio Zoo is known for its breeding programs for endangered and threatened species. Indeed, it was the first zoo to successfully reproduce the rare white rhinoceros in North America. The zoo emphasizes conservation and employs high standards of plant and animal care. It was one of the first in the United States to have cageless habitats.

Spending time with my boyfriend while looking at the animals!

I always love coming to the San Antonio Zoo to see the animals! The only criticism I have is: I wish you would bring all the cool monkeys back. They were so entertaining! :)
Fast and easy

Np problems, fast and easy, around 11:00a cats were mostly already sleeping. Head of the line I guess if you mean you can walk up to the gate from the entrance. Not sure what would happen if there was a line.
