The Basics

The frescoes adorning Raphael’s Rooms were originally commissioned by Pope Julius II in the early 1500s; Pope Leo X continued the commission after Julius' death in 1513 and, when Raphael died just seven years later, artists from his studio completed the frescoes.

The Vatican Museums, home to the Raphael Rooms, are the most visited attraction in Rome, so booking a guided tour with skip-the-line access in advance is a must. Tickets to the Vatican Museums include entry to Raphael’s Rooms. A small-group tour offering early-morning access before the museums are open to the general public is an excellent way to enjoy Raphael's works in relative peace. Many Vatican tours include Raphael's Rooms, the Sistine Chapel, and other highlights of the Vatican Museums—along with St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square.

Impressive art work

Fast Track - Vatican Tour with Museums, Sistine Chapel & Raphael rooms
Everything we saw was impressive. From the wall size art to Michaelangelo’s work in the Cistine Chapel. Our tour guide, Julia, was very well versed in the art and history and enjoyed sharing it with us. My only regret was that my headphone was not the greatest so I missed bits and pieces. There must be better options for the listening device.?

Semi PVT tour - Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel with Raphael rooms
Guisepe was a wonderful guide... knowledgeable, fun and patient. The highlight of course was the Sistine Chapel but there were a number of surprises along the way to make it a fun afternoon.

Fast Track - Vatican Tour with Museums, Sistine Chapel & Raphael rooms
Good tour well planned and guide was informative. Being honest, i don't think a guide is needed and would go direct to get best experience. Guides wast a lot of time talking and there is a lot to see at the vatigan. .so if you like the back story really worth it, if going just to get the experience, go direct without a guide a save money.

It was a nice experience. The guide was knowledgeable. There were more than 25 people trying to stay together among many tours. That was a bit difficult.
