The Basics

The Acropolis of Rhodes is one of the most accessible ancient sites on the island. Alongside the Temple of Apollo, other notable ruins include the remnants of an 800-capacity Roman odeon and traces of a 3rd-century BC stadium. Most guided tours of Rhodes include a visit to the acropolis. These include half-day tours to Rhodes’ eastern side and full-day trips around the island, which typically stop at the 4,000-year-old Acropolis of Lindos as well.

BEST OF RHODES ISLAND - PRIVATE TOUR - SHORE EXCURSION - FULL DAY - 4 People
Our tour was excellent. Our tour guide Mike was a Rhodes local and was a great source of information and highlights on our day tour. We saw all the sites we wanted. Could not be happier with this tour. No hesitation in recommending it to others.

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
Best way for cruise passengers to see the many sides of Rhodes at their own pace. Manouel our driver was great, he was waiting for us as we got off the ship and he filled our day with history, information and fun stories about life in Rhodes. Manouel was prepared, knowing the current information about one of our sites closing at Noon due to the extreme heat wave so we were able to adjust our itinerary to go to Lindos right away, which was perfect.

Best of RHODES & LINDOS Private Tour
Perfect mix of historical information/sites and free time! Our driver was knowledgeable and shared his knowledge without lecturing. And, the beach he found for our free time was absolutely perfect!

Best of RHODES & LINDOS Private Tour
We loved this Rhodes & Lindos private tour. The very best part was the guide- Nikos. His car was comfortable and had great air conditioning; which was especially important because of the heat wave. We were a group of three spanning 3 generations. The guide was especially kind to my 77 year old mother. He made the day more wonderful than we expected. We saw so much, learned even more, and had a fantastic day!

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
My husband and I travelled with our two granddaughters, 14 and 16, to Rhodes by cruise ship. Our Rhodes tour guide Michael and another gentleman, I believe the owner met us promptly on the dock to start our tour. They seemed genuinely glad to see us. The 5-hour tour of the island was spectacular. Michael knew the best places to go and was very knowledgeable. We were able to structure the tour to our liking so the girls were able to swim at Anthony Quinn Bay. We stopped at a lovely restaurant on another bay that Michael suggested and we had a wonderful meal and another swim. Thank you Michael and Rhodes Tours for an unforgettable experience.

BEST OF RHODES - HALF DAY PRIVATE TOUR - max 4 people
Dominique was our driver and he was the best. He has been doing this for over 30 years and not only showed us the best sights but allowed us to customize anything we wanted. His knowledge of the island and history was better than any tour guide we've had on this holiday so far.

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
This is a must-do tour! We were only in Rhodes for the day and this tour brought us to many amazing sights. Our guide Manouel was excellent as he drove us around this beautiful island and explained its traditions, food, products, and the ways of the people being a local who has lived in Rhodes for most of his life. Manouel will give you a history of the island and share anecdotes of each stop while having ample time for pictures and soaking up the beauty of the sights. The drive was comfortable and you will feel well taken cared of. Rhodes is stunning with its beaches, bays, the Old Town, and the acropolis at Lindos. I fell in love with Rhodes because of this tour! Thank you Manouel and we hope to visit again soon!

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
Mike was our driver. He was fantastic. He was super chill and took us all around the island stopping at places of interest. He told us all about the island and helped us get a feel for what it would be like to live there. We had plenty of time to see Lindos. In fact, it was busy and he timed our trip perfectly. He wasn't worried about a set schedule, more about making sure we saw everything we wanted to see. This is a must do if you are in Rhodes. I can't wait to go back again. Rhodes is beautiful and this was a great way to get out and see it without being stuck on a bus that only takes you to one place with a boring tour guide. Thanks Mike!

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
We went on Celebrity Cruise this July. I booked with Rhodes Shore Excursion on our stop here and had a blast! We communicated via email and Nicholas was quick to respond. His brother Michalis met us at the port in a Mercedes S class. Water was offered throughout the trip, and, off course, the ride was smooth. We had enough time to get some photos at Mandraki Port--near the gates with 2 deer stands. He told us how this place is believed to be where the Colossus of Rhodes used to stand. We passed by the church of the annunciation and more pictures were taken near the medieval windmills. On our way to Lindos, we stopped at Anthony Quinn Bay which was beautiful and not crowded at all especially now. You can take some wonderful photos here with beautiful views. We also stopped by other areas for great views of the city down below. We explored the town of Lindos and climbed up the acropolis on our own. An hour and a half to 2 hours should be enough to include shopping for souvenirs/getting more pictures/drink some smoothies/eat a crepe. We chose to walk up instead of riding the donkeys. Michalis met us on the bottom. On our way back, we stopped by a family-owned ceramic factory. They showed us their craft (pottery making and painting) and my children brought their souvenir "fair cup" there. We stopped by Agios Pavlos beach -- where st paul was believed to have preached. It had beautiful clear waters but there was a walk down. Not crowded as well. a good place to swim. We had lunch as recommended by Michael--Mama Sophia restaurant which was family-owned restaurant with delicious greek delicacies and friendly servers who gave all of us free dessert! On our way back to the ship, we explored the Castle of the Grand Master on our own. you will pass by Mandraki port once more which is not a far walk to the ship. All in all, this was GREAT excursion--the best way to see Rhodes if you only have a few hours/a day. Thank you once again to Nicholas for calling in the middle of the tour and making sure all is going well. And off course to Michael, who gave us a wonderful time, and a bottle of olive oil and capers for souvenirs! thank you. You are very much recommended!

When to Get There

While the grounds are open 24 hours a day, the best time to visit the acropolis is around sunset, when the views across the city and sea from the Temple of Pythian Apollo are often spectacular. However, this is also the busiest time—consider a sunrise visit to get the place a little more to yourself.
