A fantastic day with a perfect guide!

The hike is pretty easy when the weather is fine. The colour of mountains is unbelievable, the place itself is wonderful. Many thanks to our guide Andrea, she managed to have time for everyone and answer many questions. Tip for Game of Thrones fans: there is a lot of dragonglass there)))

Along the cairn path

Along the cairn path

We´ll be treading a path between cairns that mark our way. You will hear some tales about the hidden people living in the rocks, the elves and other nature spirits belonging to this land. It will be super fun, casual and interesting. We´ll be walking in the pristine surroundings of our farm Gufuá in West-Iceland. You´ll wade across a small river, visit a beautiful waterfall, make a halt at the Icelandic stone cairns called “vörður”. They are ancient waymarkers located in special places where you can see far and wide – and that is what we will do; take in some scenery and culture and look deeper into what it is that we have in front of our eyes. The walk is not too strenuous, and we will walk at a leisurely pace. Bear in mind that you will be hiking, so there is no solid concrete path and the walk involves a bit of hill and slope walking. Lots of smiles and laughter are guaranteed along the way!

In the fellowship of goats

In the fellowship of goats

This will be an experience that you will not find anywhere else in Iceland. The goats that you will be leading around and will be leading you around are the rare and unique breed of goats that the Vikings brought with them to Iceland over 1000 years ago. Only around 1000 animals of this breed exist today. The goat bucks you will be meeting are five and they all bear names of the dwarfs from the story of the Hobbit (Gandalf, Fili, Kili, Ori and Nori). The experience is about spending time with these lovely animals as well as the walk. The goat bucks are funny and like to be in the company of people and where there is something interesting going on. Gandalf and his gang will make your visit more than a walk in nature, cause it is always refreshing and exciting to go on an adventure with those hobbit goats. We are sure you will enjoy the experience.
