Taittinger Champagne House (Maison de Champagne Taittinger)

9 Place Saint Nicaise, Reims, France

The Basics

Located among the ruins of the Saint-Nicaise Abbey, Taittinger’s chalk caves have earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. At 712 acres (288 hectares),Taittinger is today one of the largest domaines in the Champagne region. It offers a range of world-class cuvées and vintage Champagnes; its Comtes de Champagne cuvée is among its most prestigious releases. A tasting of several different cuvées is included as part of the official tour.

Taittinger also features on numerous Champagne-region itineraries, from small-group and private Champagne-house tours to day-trip excursions from Paris; longer itineraries also tend to stop at other nearby producers, while leaving the driving to someone else.

Fun, Full day
We had an excellent time and would highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Raphael, provided us with excellent knowledge of Reims and the champagne region and made us feel comfortable and welcome right from the start.

Small-Group Day Tour of Moët et Chandon and Taittinger with Champagne Tasting from Reims
Informative and fun! Our guide, Rafael, couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. He was knowledgeable and personable … a pure joy! The tours and tastings were as advertised and the additional Champagne tasting and lunch was definitely worth the extra. Highly recommended.

Small-Group Day Tour of Moët et Chandon and Taittinger with Champagne Tasting from Reims
I was late, but they were very helpful and made sure that I get to the first house properly (They gave me a callback right away). So as not to waste my time, Rafael was very professional and kind - he gave me a tour of the town while others were doing their tour in the first champagne house. Throughout the tour, he made sure that we were comfortable and that we are enjoying the tour. He I very knowledgeable and gave so many insights and stories related to the town and basically all of France. It was such a memorable trip to the Champagne region. Thank you so much!

Small-Group Day Tour of Moët et Chandon and Taittinger with Champagne Tasting from Reims
Our guide Radames was excellent and the tours of Tattinger and Moët & Chandon could not have been better. The small group aspect allowed us to give input and stop to spend some time around the grapevines. Not to be missed!

Small-Group Day Tour of Moët et Chandon and Taittinger with Champagne Tasting from Reims
Christophe was a great guide. Gave us a quick tour of Reims city, some major champagne house locations and then on to the Tattinget house and chalk caves. After lunch on our own in Epernay we visited Moet and Chandon. Elegant champagne tasting. Only negative is lots of time spent in the van and traffic coming back into Reims but so much more fun than driving on your own.

This was one of the highlights of our trip around France! Amanda was an amazing guide and recommended a great place for lunch where we were able to try more types of champagne. She was very knowledgable about the history of the area and kept the drive interesting. The champagne houses were very nice and gave very informative tours. A must do if you are interested in champagne!

Our tour was amazing, we had a wonderful time. Lucie our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant. The champagne tastings were excellent but my favorite tour was Taittinger. We definitely recommend this tour and especially Lucie as the tour guide.

Must-Visit Champagne Houses in Reims

Taittinger isn’t the only worthy Reims Champagne house—in fact, the small city is home to several top producers. After your subterranean tour and tasting, visit some other nearby Champagne houses: top picks include Ruinart, established in 1768 and officially the longest-running Champagne producer; Veuve Clicquot, one of the largest and most popular houses; and Pommery, which pioneered the dry style of Champagne.
