The Basics

One of Quebec City’s highlights, Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency) is often visited on city sightseeing tours and dedicated bike tours. For a close-up view of the waterfall, you can climb the 487-step mountainside staircase or take the fee-based cable car to the top.

Once there, cross a suspended bridge over the crest of the falls to access both sides of the park. In summer, adventurous travelers can go ziplining over Montmorency Falls or try out the park's via ferrata circuits, while winter travelers can take part in snowshoeing and ice climbing.

Fell in love with the falls
Convenient parking, very cool cable car ride, gorgeous falls, very exciting suspension bridge right on top of the falls with fantastic view, amazing steps with lookout points to go down all the way to the base of the waterfall. Loved the boardwalk. Clean and well kept facility. Food on top was great with same price as any restaurant in the old city.

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec city
Our guided tour resonated with authenticity. Our tour guide shared many interesting details and his own love of the region— from Quebec City, along the King’s Highway to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre to the Ile D’Orleans. The stops were all very interesting. I liked the waterfall with its roar and bridge and rainbows best. We even came back and saw it lit up with colors after dark!

Private Bike Tour to Montmorency Falls
Our personal guide ‘Guy’ tailored our ride to our cycling experience finding extras places to explore as we went along. The use of the eBikes was a nice option even if we chose to keep it manual for the extra effort.

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec city
We were able to see sites outside of Quebec City that we could not do on our own without a car. Tour was well-paced and all stops were interesting. Fall colours were spectacular, and driver Jean was excellent.

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency Admission with Cable Car
The park is great the ride is wonderful, the entrance is extremely slow the traffic on the road is not well organized. You need to move the booth closer to the park and have two individuals take moneys and issue tickets.

Very enjoyable ride to the Falls. Our guide Pierre made sure we were keeping up and made several stops on the way to tell us facts about the sites. He showed us everything at the Falls and we took our time to enjoy it. Highly recommend.

When to Get There

Montmorency Falls is a year-round attraction. Ziplining is offered from May to October, and if you’re visiting in July or August, you can try out the via ferrata circuits or catch the international fireworks competition that takes place at the park. In winter, the cable car still runs and the falls gain the famous "Sugarloaf," an impressive mound of ice that forms at the foot of the falls and sometimes reaches up to 98 feet (30 meters) tall.
