Aquarium du Quebec Tours

Aquarium du Quebec
The Aquarium du Quebec is a family-friendly destination and home to more than 10,000 marine animals. Kids learn about the magic of the marine world through visits to tanks, marine mammals like polar bears and walrus, and educational exhibits. Animal feedings and trainings, seasonal events, and a riverside picnic area are also popular.

The Basics
Quebec City visitors looking for a family-friendly attraction should head to the Aquarium du Quebec, which has freshwater and saltwater tanks, numerous animals, touch pools, and other interactive areas, including a climbing structure. Pre-book admission to this popular attraction, and make sure to take the kids to the Coastal Zone, where wildlife guides will introduce them to marine invertebrates, like starfish.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Animal lovers and families will enjoy the aquarium.
  • The aquarium provides free strollers and wheelchairs.
  • There is free parking on site.
  • Check the calendar for seasonal events, including the springtime Insect Festival and the wintertime Light Festival (Festilumières).
  • Seniors receive discounted admission to the aquarium.
  • You can pair a visit to the aquarium with a stop at the nearby Laurier Québec or Place de la Cité shopping centers or enjoy the nearby riverfront parks.
How to Get There
The most convenient way to reach the Aquarium du Quebec, located about 15 minutes from downtown, is by car: Take Highway 73 to Exit 132. Alternatively, you can take the bus—both the 13 and 25 bus lines stop nearby—or hop on one of the private shuttles that run between Old Quebec and the aquarium.

When to Get There
Though the aquarium is a great year-round destination, summer visitors will get the most use out of the 19-acre (16-hectare) property, including the scenic riverfront picnic area. The aquarium is busiest on weekends, so you can avoid the crowds by visiting on a week day.

Where to Stroll Along the St. Lawrence River
After enjoying the exhibits at the aquarium, you can stretch your legs with a riverside stroll on the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain. Just steps from the aquarium entrance, this 1.5 mile (2.5 kilometer) park and boardwalk follows the Sillery coast from the Pierre Laporte Bridge. If you're up for a workout, don't forget your running shoes or bicycle—the promenade is a favorite spot for joggers and cyclists.
