The Basics

A visit toPorto Cathedral (Sé Catedral do Porto)is essential to understand the history of Porto, one of Europe’s oldest populated centers. The church dates back to the 12th century and work continued into the 16th century (not counting later baroque and 20th-century additions), accounting for the varied architectural influences. Travelers can take a half-day river cruise tour stopping at the cathedral and many other main city monuments. A tuk tuk tour of Porto is another way to avoid uphill walks.

Great tour, great city
Sophia was an enthusiastic and interesting guide. She brought the city to life for us. We particularly enjoyed the Luiz I bridge, Saõ Bento station and the general ambience of the city.

Best Way to See Historic Porto

Private Electric Tuk Tuk Sightseeing Tour of Historic Porto
An excellent way to see the historic area of Porto. Fatima was a very well informed guide and the TukTuk was able to go down narrow streets which bigger vehicles would have found impossible and if you were walking would have taken much longer. The tour was a good way to see a lot , giving an opportunity to revisit by foot those which appealed most. The TukTuk was very comfortable and would highly recommend this tour.

Porto Old Jewish Quarters Half-Day Walking Tour
While Porto currently has a small Jewish community whose museum and synagogue are closed to the public, there is a lot of Jewish history in Porto. Our guide, Joao, was excellent. He was personable and very knowledgeable. He also picked out paths to where we were going (primarily up) that were the least steep and even took us up a set of outside escalators.
