The Basics

Book skip-the-line tickets to save time at the perennially popular Louvre or attend with an art expert guide for a more in-depth visit—art lovers and novices alike will benefit from such insight. Private tours are a good option for those with specific interests, while audio guides are also available. Alternatively, combine the Louvre with stops at the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Highlights of the antiquity section include the Seated Scribe and Venus de Milo. From the Renaissance, don't miss famous works by Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, and Titian. French 19th-century masterpieces include Gericault's The Raft of the Medusa and the work of David and Delacroix.

Well worth the money.
Lucia, our good was fantastic. Her love, passion and knowledge of the pieces was very apparent. She shared so much great information. The guided tour was soooo interesting. Lucia also repeatedly solicited our input as to what we'd like to see, while providing her recommendations, which was great. Ask for Lucia!

Louvre Museum Skip-the-Line Guided Tour with Venus de Milo & Mona Lisa
Anastasia was a wonderful guide and made the Louvre tour a nice experience. Thank you! It was interesting to hear about the history of some of the art pieces and although you could spend days at the Louvre, it was a pleasure to have a tour guide walk us through so we could experience the highlights without too much information and time. Three hours was perfect for one day. There’s so much more to do in Paris!

Louvre Museum Skip the Line Access Guided Tour
Visiting the Louvre for the first time- our tour guide was so knowledgeable and was very passionate about the history and art. He was detailed and fun and a pleasure to be with. I would never have known so many facts if we took this tour on our own without a guide- well worth the money!

Masterpieces of the Louvre: Private Skip-the-Line Tour
Emanuelle was absolutely fantastic. Very informative and hit on all the most important facts regarding what we were seeing, and allowed the tour to flow very naturally. Additionally, she showed us some items perhaps not on the regular tour that were of specific interest to my partner and I. Cannot recommend enough if you’re looking for a way to visit the Louvre without sacrificing an entire day, I can’t recommend this enough.

Semi-Private Louvre Masterpieces with Skip-the-Line-Access
I wound up being the only one on my tour with Gary, so I appreciated the one-on-one attention. Gary has advanced degrees and has worked directly in the Louvre, so he has a special expertise in its contents. I especially appreciated how he asked me thought-provoking questions about certain pieces, which made me really observe details of these master works. I would never have gained such a level of understanding without his insight!

From Louvre to Street Art - original museum guided tour (skip the line!)
The Louvre is great and so was our guide KASIA. Her way of transmitting history linked with today’s artists is fantastic. We loved the way she explained and navigated us through the museum.

Underrated Artworks at the Louvre

Most visitors flock to the Mona Lisa, but the Louvre is so much more than da Vinci's moody muse. Make time for Ingres' Grande Odalisque, an 18th-century nude; the cheeky 16th-century Gabrielle d’Estrées and One of Her Sisters; and a Goya classic—The Countess del Carpio. You can even explore the ruins of the fortress upon which the Louvre is built.
