Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street Tours

Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street
Osaka is Japan’s third-largest city and also one of the best for shopping. With that said, some of the most distinctive souvenirs can be found in a rather unexpected place called Sennichimae Doguyasuji. The 525-foot-long (160-meter-long) covered shopping arcade specializes in wholesale kitchen equipment and utensils and serves as the spot where Osaka’s chefs come to shop.

Anyone who has spent time in Japan will recognize the plastic models of popular food items placed in many Japanese restaurant window displays. Sennichimae Doguyasuji is the place to find these pieces, which make very unique gifts to take back home. With its hugely discounted prices, this shopping street is also a good place to buy chopsticks, cooking knives and other Japanese-style dishware.

Practical Info

Sennichimae Doguyasuji is located just a couple minutes’ walk from the Namba subway station. It is also within walking distance of America Mura and the restaurants of Dotonbori.

Address: Nambasennichimae, Chuo-ku Osaka-shi, Osaka, Japan

Osaka Dotonbori Daytime Food Tour

Osaka Dotonbori Daytime Food Tour

star-5
Enjoy the best of Osaka's famous street food and hidden back alleys on this 3-hour Osaka Food Tour in the famous foodie neighborhood of Dotonbori & Namba! Experience an unforgettable stroll through the historical food streets of Osaka and eat like a local in the city known as “Japan’s Kitchen.” Your local expert will take you on an unforgettable eating excursion through the busy streets and the hidden, less frequented parts of South Osaka. The tour kicks off in the busy Dōtonbori area where we will learn about Glico man, a Filipino sprinter named Fortunato Catalon who inspired a nation and a company! Similar to Shibuya (its counterpart in Tokyo) the sights and sounds of Dōtonbori often lead you astray to overly-commercialised restaurants with queues of tourists outside. We want to take our guests to places they would certainly miss without local guidance. We will take secret alleys not long after we begin the tour toward the shrine hidden from sight for the average passerby.
