The Basics

The 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) round-trip Manoa Falls trail is well marked, and while visitors some go at it alone, a number of tour operators offer guided hikes. Parts of the path are paved or lined with gravel, but because of the heavy foot traffic and rainy weather, the trail can be very wet and muddy. As a result the relatively easy hike can be slippery; the last few minutes before the falls are the most challenging. The pool at the bottom of the falls is no longer open for swimming due to falling rocks.

Private Half-day Manoa Falls Hike and eBike Ride
Ryan and Aya were superb tour guides. Ryan led from the front and Aya made sure my son and I stayed together. It was my first time on an eBike. I totally trusted Ryan guiding us through Manoa. Hiking Manoa Falls was my favorite part of the tour. The air was so fresh under the trees! What a great experience!!! Both Ryan and Aya are very professional and are passionate about their services.

Sight seeing was great. Seeing more of the town outside of Waikiki beach was also great. The guides were very informative on the historical nature of the area during the ride & hike, and the overall experience was amazing!

Fantastic way to see Manoa Falls - Awesome Experience

Private Half-day Manoa Falls Hike and eBike Ride
We were super excited, as we'd never ridden an eBike so don't let that stop you. Booking the tour was straightforward and Ryan contacted us shortly after to make sure that my wife, who is 5'1 would be comfortable riding the eBike. The tour office is perfectly located; on arrival we were introduced to the eBikes - safety first - and then rode the bikes around the block in convey with Ryan at the front and Aya at the back. Once we're comfortable, off we went and peddling was optional. Ryan and Aya were great guides and we'd regularly stop, chat and they'd snap some awesome pictures of the family. Riding from the beach through Manoa up to the entrance of the falls was so much fun, open-air, cool breeze and the throttle on the bike made riding up the hills so easy. We're well looked after at Manoa Falls and provided ice cold water. It is the tour guides that make the experience; Ryan and Aya were friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful and an all-round great couple. We highly recommend this experience.

Private Half-day Manoa Falls Hike and eBike Ride
The full bike tour was fun and educational. Ryan guided us(family of 4)on a bike tour that was easy to follow. The company is equipped with the latest assistance E-bikes (Lectric). These bikes can be use with or without peddle assist. The tour stars off with instructing you with the basics of how the bike works (very easy). Once you're out of the city, which takes about ten minutes. You end up on winding back roads up the mountain. At that point you have about a 20-25 minute hike to a water fall. They will guided you at your pace up to the fall and back down. Once back at the bikes. He gave us a choice of how we wanted to ride back (a scenic route or strait back). We chose the scenic. With a nice lunch break and good conversation of the husband and wife team tour guides. The half a day bike ride tour was fun, educational, and relaxing. Weather it's just you solo or a large family, it's definite a thing you need to do when coming to Honolulu. Can't wait to come back and rent the new pocket electric bikes. Those little commuter (e-bikes) look fun.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Plan on getting dirty, and wear sturdy walking shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy.

  • Bring insect repellent, as mosquitos are out in full force on the trail.

  • There is a small snack shop near the trail entrance.

  • The force of the waterfall depends on rainfall; expect less water in summer months.

When to Get There

The Manoa Falls trail is open year-round. Oahu has a mild, tropical climate, with hotter days in summer and a rainy season typically from November to March. On rainy days the waterfall is at its most impressive and the trail is less crowded—yet also very muddy.

Tropical Vegetation

Manoa Falls is full of colorful, tropical plants, and a naturalist guide or book can help you identify what you see along the way.
