Byodo-In Temple

47-200 Kahekili Highway, Kaneohe, HI, 96744

The Basics

Constructed in 1968 to commemorate the centenary of the first Japanese arrivals, Byodo-In Temple is a popular place for Buddhist communities from both Hawaii and Japan to celebrate together. Although it’s not a practicing temple, visitors are welcome to wander the peaceful grounds. Check out the golden Buddha believed to be the largest of its kind carved outside of Japan, and the brass bell cast in Osaka and reputed to mirror the original bell hanging in the original Japanese temple. Or, stop by the meditation pavilion, or the reflection pond filled with hundreds of koi.

Many circle-island tours include the temple.

I signed up for this trip and I must say it was worth every penny! Captain Vince is awesome and super fun. This was a very educational trip and I learnt so much about Hawaiian culture not to mention learnt many words. Not a boring moment the whole day. You get to see the best spots on the island and it was so much fun! We enjoyed thoroughly!! Great experience and highly recommend!!

Visiting the temple. Views of the ocean. Place of the aqua water and that's about it. I don't have much more to say.

Amazing Island Tour with Captain Vince. They say its the tour guide that makes the trip and Captain Vince went above and beyond to make the tour both personal and memorable. He was knowledgeable about the island and so passionate and full of energy. I had a fantastic time today enjoying good food and amazing company on the trip, and would definitely recommend to all. Oahu Circle Island Tour with Byodo-In Temple Admission
The best part of the experience was the immense knowledge that our guide, jin, had for the island and for all of our stops. We learned so much about hawai and oahu! This was our best experience in the city and our best excursion. We cannot recommend enough this tour and our guide Jin!

The blowhole, the temple, several of the beaches. Did not care for the place we stopped for lunch. Would have been better if we stopped at food trucks for lunch and had a little more to eat

Hands down this was one of the best tours we have ever taken! Capt. Vince kept the adults and kids engaged and occupied throughout the day. He taught us many new words and shared a lot of Hawaiian history. Waimea waterfall and the surreal Byodo-in temple were the highlights of the trip! We were very lucky to be part of a very fun “Ohana” group that day. Had a blast. Very well coordinated day trip by an amazing tour guide! And oh, Vince also took family pics and sent them later!! He had captured some of the best pics of our trip!! Thank you Capt. Vince!! Highly recommend this to everyone trying to get a glimpse of many places in one day!

Byodo Temple was beautiful and serene. The stops to see landscapes and seascapes also impressive. Not so much for Dole Plantation which was crowded and unimpressive.

Wonderful Oahu day long tour

Enjoy an Amazing Island Adventure with Byodo-In Temple & Waimea Falls Waterfall.
This was a great tour, covered really good spots all over the island. We had enough stopping/waiting time at each spot to see the place, we were able to swim at one of the beaches. Our tour guide Captain Vince took all our pictures (which made things easy), he gave us a good history of Hawaii and taught some Hawaii words. He kept everyone involved, and my 11 yr old daughter not once asked for my phone :). He introduced us to good Hawaiian specialty food, and ensured we got a chance to taste it. Since the trip was on a Monday, we were put on the 'Awesome tour' as the Waimea waterfall was closed. However Captain Vince (even without us asking) reached out to us, and on our schedule took us to the Byod-in temple and Waimea waterfall - it was like a private tour. These were wonderful places to visit. I would highly recommend 1 Epic tour, you will see the island with all highlights, grow your Hawaiian knowledge and get entertained. And the cost is reasonable. I would definitely take tour with 1 Epic tours, next time we visit Oahu.
