Raquette Lake Tours
Read MoreShow Less
Bordered by surrounding mountains and pine forests, Raquette is one of the most scenic areas of upstate New York. The source of the Raquette River, it is renowned for its clear, peaceful waters which are a popular spot to cool down in warm summers. Swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking are frequent during the summer months, whereas cross-country skiing and snowmobiling arrive in the winter.
Raquette Lake was once the site of summer getaways for wealthy New Yorkers and camp-style homes. The W.W. Durant, a replica of the steamboats that ran on the lake in the 19th century, accepts passengers in the evening for an elegant tour on the water. Today it remains the home of many summer camps for children. The area has 99 miles of shoreline, the majority of which is public land. It is the largest lake in the Adirondack Mountains.
Located in the central Adirondack Mountains, Raquette Lake is about a five hour drive from New York City. Golden Beach Campground on the southeast shore is a particularly scenic spot from which to enjoy the lake.
