Neue Galerie New York Tours

Neue Galerie New York
Located along New York City’s Museum Mile, the Neue Galerie is dedicated entirely to Austrian and German art and design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Housed in an elegant gilded age beaux-arts mansion, the museum’s collection includes paintings, sculptures, photos, manuscripts, and furniture.

The Basics

Explore the museum’s galleries on the second and third floors. The second floor is devoted to Austrian art, and includes works by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. The third floor is focused on German art and includes works by Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. Don’t miss Gustav Klimt’s portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (Lady in Gold). Either of its two cafes—Café Sabarsky and Café Fledermaus—serving elevated Viennese fare, are worth a visit.

Opt for a guided visit to ensure you see the highlights. Some guided tours combine a visit to the Neue Galerie with stops at other New York City attractions, such as Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. Or visit on a hop-on hop-off bus tour and explore the Neue Galerie at your leisure.

Private: Jews of the Gilded Age: 5th Ave and the Mansions of Millionaire's Row

Since the early days of the United States, 5th Avenue has been a desired address. However, since the creation of Central Park, 5th Avenue became the elite address where the rich and famous hired the greatest architects to compete over who could outdo their peers. We are left with a 100+ years of art, gossip, and hilarity. These families laid the groundwork of the American Jewish community. We'll start by the Plaza Hotel at the southeastern corner of Central Park and walk up 5th Avenue with stops along the main drag, in the park, and along side streets. We'll finish at the Jewish Museum (formerly the Warburg Mansion) at 92nd Street and 5th Avenue.
