Citi Field Tours

Citi Field
Located in the borough of Queens across the East River from Manhattan, Citi Field is the home of the New York Mets, one of the city’s two Major League Baseball clubs. Completed in 2009, the park has a capacity of 42,000, and an on-site museum dedicated to all things Mets.

The Basics
If you’re a baseball fan, don’t miss the chance to catch a Mets game on the team’s home field. Tickets include access to the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum, where you can chart the team’s history through displays of trophies and artifacts.

While Citi Field runs its own behind-the-scenes tours, the stadium is also a popular inclusion on many New York City tours. A typical itinerary might combine sightseeing in Harlem and Brooklyn with a panoramic drive around Queens to see Citi Field and the nearby Arthur Ashe tennis stadium (home of the US Open).

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Citi Field is essential for sports enthusiasts.
  • The stadium is accessible to wheelchairs.
  • On-site facilities include restrooms, food stands, and free Wi-Fi.

How to Get There
The subway is the easiest way to reach Citi Field from Manhattan. From Penn station, take line 1, 2, or 3 to 42nd Street–Times Square, then transfer to the 7 train (line 7) to Mets–Willets Point station, just outside the stadium. Alternatively, hop on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from Penn to Mets–Willets. Although driving isn’t recommended, it’s possible to park in one of the stadium’s paid lots.

When to Get There
If you’re seeing a game, arrive at Citi Field at least 1.5 hours beforehand to avoid delays passing through security. To watch pregame batting practice, get there about 2.5 hours prior to the start of the game, and use the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, Hodges, and Stengel entrances.

Food and Team Memorabilia
Check out the stadium’s Mets Hall of Fame and Museum—you’ll see the team’s 1969 and 1986 World Series trophies, footage of notable feats, and more. Then, pick up a Mets jersey or cap at the Mets Team Store before heading to one of the concession stands for a bite. Citi Field is renowned for its top-notch offerings, from gourmet burgers to craft beers.
