Kingdom of Dreams
Spread over six acres, Kingdom of Dreams launched in 2010 to much fanfare and has been a success ever since, often selling out shows well in advance (so it’s not a bad idea to book ahead). Along with three theaters, the largest of which seats up to 835 people, there's a huge main hall, the “Culture Gully,” featuring grandiose architecture and regional cuisine from across India.
Things to Know Before You Go
Kingdom of Dreams is a must-visit for Bollywood fans and families with kids.
Shows are usually in Hindi or a mix of Hindi and English, but can still be fun to watch even if you don’t understand the language.
Guests will need to pass through security before entering and may have their bags searched.
How to Get There
Located in Gurugram (aka Gurgaon), Kingdom of Dreams is about an hour by metro from Connaught Place in Central Delhi. To get there, take the Yellow line to IFFCO Chowk and walk less than 10 minutes to the complex. During periods of peak traffic this is the fastest way to get there, but later in the evening when there's little traffic, the journey can be made by car in about half an hour via National Highway 48.
When to Get There
Shows at Kingdom of Dreams run Tuesdays through Sundays, with performances usually at 2 or 2:30pm and again at 7 or 7:30pm. It's a good idea to arrive half an hour to an hour early to check out the stalls at the Culture Gully and maybe grab a bite to eat.
Delhi’s Theater Scene
While cinema takes center stage when it comes to entertainment in Delhi, the city also has a vibrant theater scene. Along with the musical performances at Kingdom of Dreams, regular performances are staged at various venues across town, from the sprawling Siri Fort Auditorium to more intimate theaters such as Meghdoot Theatre and the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, both in the Mandi House area of Central Delhi.
