Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level

Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level

star-5
6
This is a very popular ride along the wide, unsurfaced track of a disused railway line. We do the downhill version of this route, making it an easy ride, suitable for families and leisure cyclists. The route meanders through valleys, olive groves, forests and along flowing rivers. You will pass through 30 tunnels (the longest is nearly 1km in length) and over 4 viaducts. Ride past a vulture colony, high up on the cliffs, and pop into the visitor centre to watch the “vulture-cam”. This route is self-guided; we drive you to the start point at the old station building in Olvera (approx 45 minutes from Ronda) and the minibus meets you in Puerto Serrano to bring you back to Ronda.

e-Bike - Ronda Sights - 28km - Easy Level

e-Bike - Ronda Sights - 28km - Easy Level

star-5
2
On this easy, circular e-bike tour, you will ride past Ronda's most famous sights and also cycle out of the town, on quiet lanes and tracks, to experience a taste of rural Andalucian life. Ronda enjoys wonderful countryside right on its doorstep, so from the centre of town, you are soon amongst olive groves and vineyards, arable fields and ancient holm oak forest. You will pass an old Roman aqueduct and enjoy fabulous views down to the old walled town. You will ride over the Roman (or Arab) bridge, with views up to the Puente Viejo "Old Bridge" and through one of the oldest districts of the town, the barrio San Francisco. Then you head down into the valley below the town for Ronda's most iconic view - the Puente Nuevo "New Bridge". This stunning, 18th century, two-tiered, arched bridge rises to span the 120m gorge which divides Ronda town in two. You finish by riding back through the old town, across the Puente Nuevo and past the bullring.

e-Bike - Grazalema, Zahara and Ronda - Challenging Level

This spectacular e-bike ride has it all: dramatic mountain climbs to the high peak of Las Palomas Pass, a 14km mountain descent, a beautiful blue lake, charming white villages and iconic views of the Puente Nuevo bridge. We drive from Ronda out to the village of Grazalema. Its unique location, in the nook of a range of craggy limestone mountains, is a spectacular startpoint to our riding. From here, we ride straight up to Las Palomas Pass (1357m) the views in both directions are incredible. Then we enjoy a 14km descent around the mountain, giving incredible views of the lake and Zahara below. At the end of the lake we climb into the hills for another great descent, with great views of Ronda in the distance. We use some small unsurfaced roads to climb back towards the town view the full drama of Ronda's clifftop position directly in front of us. We ride directly below the cliffs Ronda, looking up at the Puente Nuevo bridge high above us and enter the town from the south.

eMTB - Montejaque Village Circular - 36km - Moderate Level

eMTB - Montejaque Village Circular - 36km - Moderate Level

This route makes a circuit to the west of Ronda, passing through rural countryside and through two small, sleepy white villages. It is an off-road version of our Leisure e-bike ride: Cueva del Gato & Montejaque, which means less road and more tracks and paths. From Ronda we head down into the valley directly below the town, for great views up to the main Puente Nuevo bridge. We climb out of the valley and then drop down again to the Guadiaro river, where we make a short stop at the Cueva del Gato, “Cat Cave”. This is a local beauty spot, with a small waterfall and beautiful pool of crystal clear (but very cold!) water. We climb steadily up into the mountains, through the village of Benaojan and on to Montejaque, where we usually make a quick coffee stop on the village square We continue down through farmland into the valley of La Indiana before using trails which head up through pine-forested hills to climb back to Ronda.

MTB - Ronda to Cueva del Gato - 25km - Easy Level

MTB - Ronda to Cueva del Gato - 25km - Easy Level

A short, easy ride, suitable for families and leisure riders. We ride directly out from Ronda, via a mix of tracks and quiet roads to a popular beauty spot known as the Cueva del Gato or "Cat Cave". This ride takes you through the local countryside, passing small farms, olive groves, vineyards and fields of sunflowers. The Cat Cave is named for the shape of the cave mouth in the mountain. A waterfall at the cave entrance flows all year round, however dry the weather, as the mountain contains a network of water-filled tunnels and caverns. Each day, thousands of litres of crystal clear (and very cold) water exit the cave via the waterfall to create a stunning, blue water pool. There is time for optional refreshments near the cave before we return to Ronda in our minibus.

MTB - Grazalema Grand Tour - 38km - Moderate or Challenging Level

MTB - Grazalema Grand Tour - 38km - Moderate or Challenging Level

This route is an extension of our Grazalema Natural Park circular ride, providing more singletrack. The Natural Park is a great area for cross-country biking, with dramatic, unspoilt and remote plains surrounded by towering mountain peaks. The first half of the ride explores the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, a protected region of rocky mountain crags, karst valleys and cork oak forest. A climb up into the first section of cork oak forest offers a good chance of spotting some free-ranging Iberian pigs, then its back down into the valley. After this we head off up into more cork oak forests on a technical section of single track. This leads us in to the Hundidero valley and on to the white village of Montejaque, where we take a quick refreshment stop. We exit the village via the "zigzag path", a short, steep climb up over the mountain and on to a flat plateau, from where we have great views back towards Ronda. We finish with a fun descent down into the Guadiaro valley.

MTB - Ronda to Olvera - 45km - Moderate Level

MTB - Ronda to Olvera - 45km - Moderate Level

A moderate ride from Ronda, firstly to the village of Setenil de las Bodegas and then on, through hilly countryside, to the town of Olvera. Olvera perches on top of a hill, dominated by an impressive, twin-towered neo-classical church and an impregnable Arab castle. Riding from Ronda, you will pass through olive groves and vineyards north of the town. A long, easy descent takes us into the village of Setenil de las Bodegas and time for a quick coffee or cool drink before we continue on to Olvera. We ascend back into the hills above Setenil and ride along trails above the valley, where we catch great views of Olvera in the distance. Another nice descent takes us into a valley from which we then climb up to the town. Ride up to the church and castle for a satisfying view back over the countryside you have ridden through. There is time for optional refreshments before we return to Ronda in our minibus.

MTB - El Chorro - 44km - Moderate Level

MTB - El Chorro - 44km - Moderate Level

This is a classic cross-country ride through isolated hillside landscapes to Andalucia’s "lake district" and finally to the famous El Chorro gorge. If you enjoy being out in the wilds and covering some cross country miles with amazing vistas throughout, then this ride is for you. A 20 min drive from Ronda takes us up to a high point where we begin our ride. We use a mixture of tracks and eventually quiet roads, cycling through pine forest and out into open countryside, with mountain ranges all around. We enjoy a fun, long descent to the town of Ardales before heading into strange, rocky landscapes around a network of lakes and dams. We then head to a Mirador overlooking the lakes. We finish near the dramatic gorge of El Chorro, a narrow river channel which cuts between two 150m tall limestone cliffs, with views of the recently restored Caminito del Rey walkway, perched high up on the inside of the cliff.

e-Bike - Genal Valley and Jimera Circular - 52km - Moderate Level

e-Bike - Genal Valley and Jimera Circular - 52km - Moderate Level

This is an extended, circular version of our regular cycling day trip Genal Valley Views, taking advantage of the e-bikes to make the return trip to Ronda, which includes a lot of hill climbing. The route begins with a steady climb from Ronda up to a mountain ridge and then undulates along the ridge-top road which weaves through the mountains. We ride past the village of Atajate, the smallest white village in Malaga province, with only around 140 inhabitants. Then we take a turn off the main ridge and enjoy a twisting descent down the side of the hill, along 5km of narrow, twisting mountain road, to the bottom of the Guadiaro river valley. We generally take a short refreshment stop here and then head straight back up the other side of the valley. We follow the hillside, with wonderful views along the Guadiaro river. We ride through the small white village of Benaojan and then begin the long gradual climb back up to Ronda.
