Old Louisville Walking Tour as Recommended by The New York Times!

Old Louisville Walking Tour as Recommended by The New York Times!

star-5

Tours daily March-November; select dates in the off-season! See why the New York Times recommends us during your "36 Hours in Louisville!" Since 2004, we offer the ORIGINAL guided walk of "America's Most Exuberant Neighborhood," based on the writings of David Dominé, who often shows up to guide the tours himself. A fascinating historic district, Old Louisville has gained renown because of its impressive Victorian mansions and quirky residents. The city's bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and titans of tobacco lived here. Our 90-minute tours are comprehensive and include more than St. James Court. You see Ormsby Avenue, Park Avenue cottages, Floral Terrace, the Witches' Tree, and Millionaires Row. We cover 20 blocks; other neighborhood walking tours only see 10 blocks. We depart from the transitional edge of the neighborhood. If you love old houses, this is the tour for you! If you do not like an up-and-coming neighborhood with a diverse racial make up, please stay home.

Tours daily from March 15 through November 15; limited dates in the off-season! The fascinating historic district known as Old Louisville has gained national exposure because of its impressive Victorian mansions and quirky residents. Developed in the 1880s and 1890s, it attracted the Derby City's bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and titans of tobacco. This narrated walk is based on books by storyteller David Dominé, who often shows up to guide groups himself. The tales shared involve personal experiences and neighborhood gossip. The New York Times recommends a tour with him as the first thing not to miss during a visitor's "36 Hours in Louisville." Specializing in "America's Most Haunted Neighborhood," we depart from the corner of Fourth and Ormsby, at the transitional edge of the neighborhood. If you love old architecture and spooky history, this is the tour for you! If you do not like an up-and-coming neighborhood with a diverse racial make up, this tour is not for you!
