Frazier History Museum Tours

Frazier History Museum
The Frazier History Museum offers a wide variety of exhibits about Kentucky’s history. See historic artifacts, get an in-depth look at the invention and distillation of Kentucky bourbon, and enjoy gallery talks. The three floors of exhibition space hold a variety of events ranging from whiskey tastings to performances by costumed actors.

The Basics

The Frazier History Museum is one of Louisville's more popular cultural institutions, conveniently located on Museum Row. Visit permanent and temporary exhibitions focused on topics such as Lewis and Clark’s adventures, the history of Louisville’s parks, and the science and art behind Kentucky’s famed bourbons. Pre-book tickets online to avoid lines, and book a spot at the daily distillery tours that leave from the museum.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Kids shouldn't miss the educational Second Saturdays programs, which are included in the price of admission.
  • For a great value, buy a Main Ticket, which includes entry to the Frazier Museum and several other Louisville museums.
  • The Frazier Museum is fully accessible for wheelchair users and strollers.
  • Children, seniors, and students receive discounted admission to the museum.

How to Get There
The Frazier Museum is located on West Main Street in Louisville; the most convenient way to reach the museum is by car. Take I-64, I-65, or I-71 toward downtown; the museum is on the north side of Main Street, between 8th Street and 9th Street. The electric LouLift bus, which runs along Main and Market Streets, offers a free ride to the museum.

When to Get There

The Frazier History Museum is open every day except for major holidays and has shortened hours on Sundays. The museum is most crowded on weekends. Visit in the spring to enjoy the flower displays on the roof garden, or pre-book tickets to one of the museum’s popular evening events.

Exploring Museum Row

After visiting the Frazier Museum, continue a day of museum hopping along the city's Museum Row. Baseball fans can head to the Louisville Slugger Museum, while fine arts enthusiasts can visit the diverse exhibitions at the KMAC Museum.
