Sefton Park
The Basics
Sefton Park, opened in 1872, offers insight into the city’s heritage, as well as picturesque views of the seasonal landscape. Visitors can explore the park’s landmarks, including the Victorian Palm House conservatory and nearby statues, or relax with plenty of family-friendly picnic spots and play areas. Explore nature on cycling, jogging, or walking routes, and stop for a closer look at the park’s flora and fauna at the boating lake and fairy glen.
Things to Know Before You Go
Sefton Park is popular with joggers, cyclists, wildlife-watchers, and families.
Bring your binoculars for a closer view of the park’s wildlife, including grebes, owls, and bats.
In rainy months, some areas can be muddy, so it’s a good idea to wear boots and pack an umbrella.
The main paths are wheelchair friendly, though some routes are not.
Palm House has ramped access, and accessible toilets are available at three locations in the park. The site has two disabled parking bays.
How to Get There
The park is located 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) southeast of the city center. There is some free parking on-site and more available on the surrounding roads. The nearest train station is St. Michaels, about a 20-minute walk to the park, with direct service from Liverpool Central. A regular bus service also operates from the city center; the 75, 80, or 80A will drop you at Hartington Road stop for the north entrance.

When to Get There
Sefton Park is open year-round and offers striking views in every season. Spring brings plenty of dazzling bluebells and daffodils, though autumn’s more dramatic vistas have their charms, too. During summer, the park hosts music festivals popular with locals and visitors alike.
Discover Lark Lane
Lark Lane, situated just off Aigburth Drive and only a few minutes’ walk from the park, is known locally as a more bohemian alternative to the city center. It offers a variety of independent bars, cafes, shops, and restaurants, as well as a community center that runs regular creative events.
