You don’t have to travel to Africa to get up close and personal with the King of the Jungle. Lion Habitat Ranch, located just outside Sin City, offers up the unique opportunity for travelers to experience the wonder of one of the world’s biggest cats.
Take a behind the scenes tour of this family-oriented, outdoor destination to learn more about conservation efforts to protect these and other wild animals. For an additional fee, hand-feed giraffes or lions a pound of their favorite foods, or enjoy a picnic lunch in a protected enclosure while these giant cats wander around you. While lions are the big draw of this popular attraction, travelers will also find emus, ostriches, parrots, giraffes and other animals in this protected habitat.
The ranch is located at 382 Burner Avenue in Henderson, Nevada, about 16 miles southeast of Las Vegas. It is open Friday through Monday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and closed Tuesday through Thursday. Because the space is outdoors, Lion Habitat Ranch closes during inclement weather. Call after heavy rains to insure the park is open. Entrance is $25 for adults, which also includes entry of one child.

Find A Way To Get There! The Lion Habitat Ranch Was A Blast!

I chose the behind the scenes tour, it was worth it! I had to pay for a cab to and from the Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson, Nevada. I wish there had been an easier way to get there, but I wouldn't have missed this adventure for anything! Lots of people I talked with didn't even know this place existed! All lions at the habitat ranch are fed by hand, by the trainers, so you see them close up! To see a giraffe actually paint is SUPER!

What a hidden gem. We used to be sure to stop by the MGM hotel to see the lions there, but they closed that exhibit down in 2012. What struck me about this place was the cleanliness and palpable love for these animals that the trainers had. You can just tell when someone speaks animal, and these people do. The most important thing to the wonderful people here is the health and happiness of their animals. Highest recommendation! Also, the behind the scenes tour has a lot less people trying to get the attention of the lions - after our tour, there were large groups of kids laughing at the lions, who were grumbling back at them - found the kids annoying and wondering where the parents were - only to sadly realize, they were right next to them doing the same thing. Too bad you can't pass a test before you're allowed to be with these majestic beasts. Do yourself a favor and visit this place - but please be respectful of the big kitties!

My family and I enjoyed our visit to the lion habitat. It has more than just lions there, you can see birds, ostriches, and giraffes. My daughter had the opportunity to feed the giraffe while petting him. That was her highlight of the day. It was awesome to when they feed the lions because all of them start to roar, and it can be heard throughout the entire facility. If you a family traveling in Las Vegas, this is a must see.
