Despite its diminutive size at just over 1 km long, Rydal Water’s strong literary connections have cemented its status as one of the Lake District’s most visited spots. Wordsworth’s Seat, overlooking the western bank, was renowned as the poet’s favorite viewpoint, while nearby points of interest include Nab Cottage, once home to Thomas Quincey and three of Wordworth’s former homes – White Moss House, Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage.

One of the few boat-free lakes, Rydal Water makes a perfect spot for open-air swimming during the warmer months, while the lakeside hills are at their most beautiful in spring and autumn, when fields of wildflowers and colorful foliage add a rich range of hues.

Full-Day Private Luxury Tour of the Central Lake District

Full-Day Private Luxury Tour of the Central Lake District

This tour concentrates mainly on the delights of the Southern Lakes but we dip into the Western side too. Whilst not far distance-wise it packs a lot in to the day with highlights being the opportunity to experience the dramatic road over Hardknott Pass, a roman fort, an optional lake cruise on Coniston and the haunts of Beatrix Potter and the Romantic Poets. We pride ourselves on customising all our tours to suit your personal requirements. We can spend more time, or less, at places so please use the itinerary as a framework for us to create the perfect day for you. Each tour includes one paid for experience highlighted * Although some guests actually want to see the Lakes at its wildest it can spoil it for others so, as "Pleasure first, Business second" is our mantra we, unlike most operators, will let you know in advance if we think the weather may be an issue to allow you to make an informed decision as to continue with your trip, arrange an alternative date or request a refund.
