The Basics

Set just outside the town of La Fortuna, this cascade is a must-see for visitors to Arenal Volcano National Park. From the parking lot, the descent down the staircase to the falls only takes roughly 20 minutes. A longer trail winds through the rain forest and can be traversed on horseback, giving travelers an opportunity to spot toucans, monkeys, and other tropical creatures. At the bottom, adventurous visitors can swim in the clear waters below the fall, while others can picnic along the rocky shoreline or snap pictures of the scenery.

Most La Fortuna Waterfall tours include a visit to the adjacent Arenal Volcano National Park, where you can head out on a volcano hike, get your adrenaline pumping on a waterfall-jumping and canyoning adventure, or float down the river on a safari tour.

So Fun! Recommend Raul and Joel!
My mom and I went on this guided tour and it was amazing! Our guide spotted spider monkeys, tarantulas, sloth's, blue jean frogs and vipers! Great experience getting to explore these landmarks with the best guide and driver, Raul and Joel. Positive attitudes and great jokes. Would absolutely recommend everyone who comes to do this tour.

Half Day Adventure from La Fortuna- 2 tours in 1, 4 options to choose!
We chose the hanging bridges and the La Fortuna waterfall. Both were incredible and our guide David was great! He found such joy in showing us everything. He even got word where a sloth was off the side of the road and we made an impromptu stop to observe for a bit. The tour company was wonderful as we left a personal belonging on the shuttle and it was returned. Thanks for the great day!

Full day Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall and Hotsprings
D own to earth crew. Christian, Marta, and Carlos were fun and easy going. Make sure you take your water shoes to the waterfall, and bring dry clothes for the rest of the day. Better be in decent shape for the 500 steps back and forth to La Fortuna water fall, and the volcano hike. The adventure was well worth it. Don't forget to tip the crew. They work very hard. Pura Vida!

Full day Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall and Hotsprings
We had an awesome day, we did all the highlights of Arenal: we hiked up the vulcano, and the Fortuna waterfall, and ended the day at hot springs. We had a very kind guide who knew a lot about nature. It was quite a tough hike so I’d recommend good shoes and extra water.

What a memorable day! Our tour guide Mario was so nice and made the whole day very fun. We had some so-so weather but even with clouds and rain Mario made the day so enjoyable and we learned a lot about the area, it’s history and biodiversity.

Safari Float + La Fortuna Waterfall & Farm Lunch
The knowledge of our guide (Andreas) and our driver (Victor). The wonderful pace of the day in the amazing quiet, beautiful natural setting. The "coffee break" and lunch were awesome - authentic, delicious, plentiful. The whole day was relaxing, educational and culturally rich. Highly recommended!

Full-Day Top 3 Activities Tour in Arenal La Fortuna
Minor was an amazing guide. Learning about the flora and fauna, the Volcano formation and all of the animals/insects was beyond our expectations. It made the experience worth the rain and fog!
