Jewish Quarter, Oskar Schindler's sites and Kraków under Nazi occupation

star-5

In the beginning we go to see the very well preserved medieval Jewish quarter in Kazimierz, with its most interesting, ancient streets: Meisselsa, Józefa and Szeroka. Having this background we go over the Wisła (Vistula) River to find out the history of the Closed Jewish District (ghetto) in Podgórze. We also see the remaining parts of the ghetto wall in a very striking "matsevah-like" shape. Then we visit the historical museum in the former Schindler's Factory in Zabłocie. The new (opened in 2010), interactive exhibition shows how Kraków looked like days before WWII started and how WWII affected its people. Finally we visit the area of the concentration and labour camp in Płaszów, the monument and a villa where infamous commandant SS-Hauptsturmführer Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes in the movie) used to live.

Private Schindler's List and Jewish Heritage Tour in Krakow
"Our guide was on time to collect us a lovely person who was obviously very knowledgeable & passionate about her city. Walking tour of a lovely crisp morning leaving the old town into the Jewish 1/4 with a look round a synagogue. Then across to the former ghetto then onto Schindlers factory were tickets were organised & we got access to the museum. At this point the guide said goodbye & we made our own way around the museum which is excellent. Obviously far to much history to discuss but lots of things pointed out & recommendations made that allowed you to confidently return to explore the tour route. The tour was over a couple of hours not including the museum which could take hours to see & read everything. This is a walking tour All on pavements within the city. Would definetely recommend & would do again."..."
