Titop Island, Vietnam

The Basics

Most visitors to Titop Island (sometimes mistakenly written Ti Top Island) make a beeline for the beach for swimming and kayaking, but adventurous types can also climb the 427 stone steps to the mountaintop pagoda, where they’ll be rewarded with dazzling views over the bay. Titop is also home to a number of resort hotels, restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops, making it a good choice for a stopover. Some single-day cruises through Halong Bay make a stop on the island for hiking or kayaking, while multi-day itineraries often allow a bit more time to explore.

Breathtaking views
Halong Bay is incredibly beautiful and it is a must see in Vietnam. All the attractions during this trip were quite well prepared - bus transport, boat cruise, cave visiting, swimming. The only disappointment (small but still) was the kayaking/ bamboo boat. The reason for that being that if you are solo you can’t take kayaking as an option which would give you a 45min of rowing around, instead you have max. 15min bamboo boat trip which is way too short to enjoy the bay with monkeys. The tour guide (Jerry) was ok.

Beaches of Halong Bay

While Titop Island might have one of the most famous beaches in Halong Bay, it’s certainly not the only one. Tuan Chau Island boasts a long artificial beach with plenty of space to spread out, while Quan Lan Beach ranks among the most pristine, with white sand and clear water perfect for swimming. Bai Chay Beach offers numerous water sports, including parasailing.
