Guachimontones Tours and Tickets
90 Reviews
Ancient structures can be found throughout the country, but the tiered, circular pyramids of Guachimontones (meaning “place of the gods”) stand as one of the most important prehistoric settlements of western Mexico. An easy day trip from Guadalajara, this UNESCO World Heritage Site isn’t as well-known as others, yet it’s a unique place that transports you back in time.

Fully-private day tour of Guachimontones & Tequila (no groups)
My name is Diego Hannon, I have a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master in social studies from the University of Guadalajara. I’ve published academic papers and book chapters on how cultural heritage can be used to promote sustainable development in Mexico’s rural and indigenous communities.
I created this fully-private experience (no groups) to introduce travelers to the history and culture of one of Mexico’s most representative regions: the Tequila Valley.
By exploring its archeological sites, villages and industrial facilities, we’ll learn in a fun and relaxed way how local inhabitants managed to build a complex biocultural system of production of agave, from which tequila is made.
We’ll also learn about the latest trends in the tequila industry, and how the drink became a globally recognized symbol of Mexican culture.
Since this is a private experience we can go at your own pace. I suggest we start early (8 or 9 am) to beat the crowds and avoid midday heat and traffic.
