Generalife Gardens

Generalife, Realejo-San Matias, Granada

The Basics

Entrance to the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Generalife Gardens is included in your entrance ticket to the Alhambra, but you can also purchase a separate ticket for the gardens only. Since the complex ranks as one of the most-visited attractions in Andalucia, it’s a good idea to book a skip-the-line tour—small-group or private—of both the Alhambra and Generalife ahead of time to avoid disappointment. It’s also possible to see both attractions on a guided day trip from Seville, Roquetas de Mar, or Malaga.

A spectacular day at Alhambra
We enjoyed the whole spectacular tour but the Lions Palace stands out. A 'small group skip the lines' tour was definitely worth the extra cost. Our tour guide Hamdi was excellent.

Don't visit Granada without going there

Alhambra Complete: Ticket Skip-the-Line Nasrid Palace and Generalife with Guide
Very Clean place, looking really genuine. Not to many people (space enough for everyone) and staff very professional, respectful and educated. Explanations are clear, massage was excellent. The Hanmam wasn't warm enough, I believe, due to repeated entries and exits of people.

Alhambra and Generalife Private Guided Tour in Granada
Our tour guide Juan Antonio was very generous with sharing the history and culture of the Alhambra Moors and Hapsburg Renaissance royals. His knowledge of the Generalife gardens and palace is extensive and he was very patient explaining in English all he knew. He listened carefully to our questions and considerately answered them. This all made for a very informative and memorable tour.

Great tour - shame about the lack of Covid controls

Alhambra and Generalife Small Group Guided Tour with Skip the Line Tickets
The tour guide was very good and knowledgeable but, unfortunately the Covid measures at the facility were insufficient - people all crowding together in close quarters with no attempt at any kind of crowd control or social distancing. My health was worth more than this, so I left early.

Alhambra and Generalife Small Group Guided Tour with Skip the Line Tickets
Our guide, Antonio, was very knowledgeable and kept the tour a fast-paced, interesting tour. There was ample time for breaks. The grounds were spectacular and the view was stunning! Special thanks to Antonio, for recommending the local favorite of fried eggplant and sugar cane sauce, and pointing out a cute cafe. He is obviously proud of his heritage.

Alhambra, Generalife & Nasrid Palaces: Tour with Fast Track
This tour was the highlight of our two week holiday in Andalusia. Our tour guide Jorge was exceptional. He was clearly so passionate about the Alhambra, Generalife and Nasrid Palaces, bringing each area’s history to life for us. He is also an amazing singer. The tour itself was the right length of time, great audio, and location easy to find.

Our tour conductor, Virginia, on the Jul 20 10am tour to Alhambra, was The most informative, easy to understand and well prepared of any tour leader we have had on the many tours we have enjoyed. She is a credit to her profession.

Fabulous tour and our guide Maryla was so knowledgeable. Skip to the front of the que wirjed well. More than 3hrs at over 40degrers was a litke too much so tour adjusted to suit.Well worth selecting a small group tour.

Alhambra and Generalife Skip-the-Line Ticket with Official Guide
Two pieces of advice: (1) visit the Alhambra if you’re in Andalucía even if you don’t stay overnight in Granada. It’s worth it. (2) do a guided tour even if you think you know the history. I’ve visited before and have lived and studied in Spain and I learned a TON from our amazing guide (Juan). So knowledgeable, passionate and congenial, Photos cannot capture its beauty.
