Newbridge House and Farm Tours

Newbridge House and Farm
For a pastoral experience without having to venture far from the city, spend a few hours at Newbridge House and Farm. Explore the 30-acre (12-hectare) traditional farm and meet its charming residents, including pigs, Connemara ponies, chicks, and more. Then tour the house, one of Ireland’s finest examples of Georgian architecture.

The Basics
Feel as if you’ve gone back in time as you visit the impeccably restored Newbridge House and Farm. Wander the woodlands and meadows on your own, then admire the house’s furnishings and ornate plasterwork as a guide walks you through Irish history. Highlights include the Cabinet of Curiosities, filled with antiquities and oddities, and the Red Drawing Room, home to an 18th-century private art collection. To save time, buy your ticket online in advance.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Newbridge House and Farm is a must-visit for families and travelers interested in Irish history.
  • The estate is wheelchair-accessible.
  • Cheaper admission tickets are available to those who want to visit the farm only (not the house).
  • Children get a discount on the price of admission, and concession rates are available for students and seniors.

How to Get There
Newbridge House and Farm is a 20-minute drive from Dublin Airport and a 30-minute drive from central Dublin. Free parking is available. Alternatively, take public transit from the Dublin city center: the 33X bus stops at the main estate entrance, and northbound trains stop at Donabate station, a 15-minute walk from the estate.

When to Get There
October through March: The estate is open Tuesday through Sunday. Tours of the house are offered every hour from 10am to 3pm, and the farm is open from 9:30am, with last entry at 3:30pm. April through September: The estate is open every day. Tours of the house happen every hour from 10am to 4pm, and the farm is open from 9:30am, with last entry at 5pm.

The Farm
Newbridge is renowned for its commitment to high standards of animal welfare and preservation of rare breeds of animals, which have nearly disappeared due to intensive methods of farming. See a working farm whose animals are reared in an environment where they can move about freely and behave naturally. Children can check out the Farmyard Discovery Trail for an interactive experience navigating the farmyard and paddocks while completing challenges and learning along the way.
