Dubai Museum

Al Fahidi Fort, Al Fahidi Street, Dubai

The Basics

Housed in Dubai’s oldest structure—built in 1787—the Dubai Museum gives visitors insight into a side of the city hard to imagine amid all the ultramodern skyscrapers. The museum is a highlight on many city tours, along with other popular Dubai attractions such as the Jumeirah Mosque, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Creek, and the Gold and Spice souks.

Team continued with the tour despite me being the only passenger - excellent service! Mr. Gineesh (Jithu) was a very patient and kind guide as well.

Dubai Aladdin Tour: Souks, Creek, Old Dubai and Tastings ( Small-Group)
It was a really lovely tour, especially due to the tour guide who was amazing. He explained everything properly, gave us adequate breaks along with a lot of free food which is always a plus. All in all it was totally worth its price

Very Nice Dubai Tour- Burj beware

Dubai full day tour with Entry ticket to Burj Khalifa at the Top
The tour and the tour company are great. We had a wonderful time with the group and seeing the sites, but be aware that the Burj is a process (or at least it was for us). There is a standard ticket (part of this package) and a $125 VIP pass. The difference is that it took us over 1 hour in line to leave by their elevator. The VIP took minutes. If seeing a view from a tall building is your thing, consider the difference.

Dubai Traditional City Tour
The tour guide was informative and pleasant. The tour itself was just a sampling of areas around Dubai. You only stay 10-15 minutes at various areas; however, we were given 30 minutes at the Gold Souk. We did take a small boat ride through the creek which was nice. Overall, you get an idea for the areas that interest you to revisit with more time later on your trip to Dubai.

Dubai Sightseeing Day Trip from Abu Dhabi
Excellent tour. Not just of Dubai but the history of the Emirates during the 90 min drive to get there. We definitely saw parts we would not have seen had we done this alone. The Marina and Old Dubai as examples. Our guide (Sabu??) was fantastic. A fountain of knowledge and looked after us from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour.

Dubai full day tour with Entry ticket to Burj Khalifa at the Top
My wife and I were very happy with the guide and service. Burj Khalifa was not what we expected. Too long lines and not worth a 10-15 minute experience at the top.

OK for first time visitors

Dubai City Tour with Guide - Old and New Dubai sightseeing tour
Interesting visit for a first time visitor. We lost too much time at the mosque and at The Palm, so the time at the spice souq and the gold souq was very limited. The Abramovich ride was less than 3 minutes, just to cross the Creek. This is not an abra cruise. At the Dubai Frame also no time to enter. A bit disappointing. The total tour didn't last the promised 8 hours, it was only 7 hours.

When to Get There

The museum is open daily (limited hours on Fridays) except for during Ramadan, when the museum remains closed on Fridays. Despite being in the oldest building in Dubai, the museum is completely air-conditioned, making it a perfect way to spend an hour or so during the hottest part of the afternoon.

History of Al Fahidi Fort

Located on the southern shores of Dubai Creek, the 200-year-old Al Fahidi Fort was built at what was then the edge of urban Dubai to lend protection to the city. Throughout its history, the building served as an arsenal for weapons and artillery, and as a prison before it became a museum in 1971.
