Practical Info

The best time to visit Arnhem Land is during dry season, from April through September. During the intense wet season, many parts of the park are closed. Accommodations within Arnhem Land are scarce, though not impossible to secure. An organized tour with a registered guide may be the best option for exploring, as Arnhem Land holds extensive cultural significance to the local people. A permit from the Northern Cand Council may be required to visit. The area is bordered by Kakadu National Park to the south and the Gulf of Carpentaria to the north.

Amazing amazing country
This land is like no other and this tour was terrific. Just enough to get a taste of what is there - endless landscapes and beautiful scenery , many different types of birds, large and plentiful crocodiles, breathtaking aboriginal rock art. The tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Parts of the Arnhem tour were tough for "city folk"- e.g. some rock climbing - but well worth it.

3-Day Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land Explorer Tour from Darwin
A fascinating trip, fantastic scenery, and bird life. I saw enough enormous salt water crocodiles to last a good while. The second day traveling into Arnhem land with an indigenous guide was a great opportunity . I chose the middle accommodation option the Aurora Kakadu and this was a great place to stay, large comfortably furnished bungalow with a lovely pool and very good meals served in the restaurant.

2-Day Kakadu and Arnhem Land Tour from Darwin
Wonderful 2 days in hot weather but plenty of cold water supplied. Aboriginal Art sites were a highlight as was the second day into Arnhem Land. Comfortable coach and 4 wheel drive for the second day. Highly recommended.

2-Day Kakadu and Arnhem Land Tour from Darwin
Excellent guides are very often the key to this sort of tour and the guys we had were great. Kakadu and Arnhem Land were just amazing to visit and such a great experience. The Guluyambi Cruise is especially worthwhile for the time spent with the Indigenous guides.

Basically structured as 3 separate 1 day tours, staying for 2 nights at the Crocodile Hotel. Day two 4WD tour was the highlight with well informed driver taking us to some great locations

2-Day Kakadu and Arnhem Land Tour from Darwin
Extremely informative and interesting. Great accommodation and brilliant tour guides; particularly Peter Love on the Kakadu tour. Very professional and unique with his dissemination of information and local knowledge. Coupled with that was his personality and ability to relate to all his passengers regardless of age. The four wheeled tour of Arnhem Land was also a truly unforgettable and spiritual experience and professionally conducted.

2-Day Kakadu and Arnhem Land Tour from Darwin
I can't say enough good things about AAT Kings tours. Drivers are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The Crocodile Hotel was interesting but their $65 dinner/breakfast special was not worth that much money. The guides on the boat tours did a very good job; they knew their flora and fauna on the South Alligator River cruise and did a wonderful job, especially the demonstration with the spears, on the East Alligator River (Arnhem Land Tour).

3-Day Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land Explorer Tour from Darwin
A great way to see a range of different places and sites within Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. It was an excellent tour - well organised and it ran very smoothly. Arnhem Land & Kakadu lived up to my expectations. The guides were both knowledgeable and professional. I was able to see both Kakadu and Arnhem Land, the countryside was stunning, so green, lots of bird life and crocodiles. It is a fabulous part of the country and I would highly recommend the trip.

3-Day Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land Explorer Tour from Darwin
Really enjoyed the 3 days - especially the 4WD day out in Arnhem Land - magical. The rock art and views from the top of Ubirr were also breathtaking. Could happily spend much more time exploring Kakadu and surrounds. The Croc Hotel was also an experience!

3-Day Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land Explorer Tour from Darwin
Highly recommended! AAT Kings drivers were amazing. Full of knowledge and knew how to keep the trips interesting with fun facts and lighthearted humor. 3rd party contractors - indigenous and non-indigenous - were also very knowledgable and kept the long days interesting and entertaining. I would recommend choosing the Crocodile hotel, if budget allows, as the Aurora Kakadu left a lot to be desired. Overall - I'd highly recommend this package deal!
