Hato Caves

Weg naar Hato, Willemstad

The Basics

The Hato Caves are the most prominent caves on the Caribbean island of Curacao. Visitors can take a 20-minute self-guided walk to see carvings by the Caiquetio people done more than 1,500 years ago or join a 1-hour guided tour, which takes place several times throughout the day and explains the legends and history of this underground world. A stop at the caves can be coupled with other Curacao attractions such as the ostrich farm.

Curacao Beach and Hato Caves Tour
Alex and Aida were the best tourguides! We had an island tour, saw the flamingoes, Hato Caves, shopped and went to Kokomo Beach (sooo beautiful)! Dont forget to try the Watermelon Flamingo when you go! Only downside, no wifi at the beach :(

Alex was amazing guide. Nonstop information all through the trip and he also showed us the art installations after our tour. Definitely recommend this tour. Kokomo Beach had great snorkeling too. Caves were very nice.

Curacao Beach and Hato Caves Tour
Great experience, Alejandro was very knowledgeable about the island facts. They were on time, bus was air conditioned and it was a small tour. We had a great time. They took us to Mambo Beach and we had fresh food at Bonito

Must Include Excursion!

Curacao Beach and Hato Caves Tour
This was our first time traveling to Curacao and traveling internationally since the pandemic. Only on the island for 4 days, we booked this excursion months in advance for our third day. The day before I had messaged the tour number to confirm our hotel pickup and to ensure that we would be back to our resort before our mandatory scheduled COVID test. When the tour group responded, we were met with AMAZING customer service! The tour group was quick with responding and informed us that the rest of our group had canceled and normally they would cancel the excursion since the minimum is 4 people, and we were only 2 people, but they accepted to continue and give us a private tour! We were super excited about the experience and relieved that we would be able to make it to our test in time. We had the delight of meeting our fabulous tour guide Rossy who was extremely upbeat, informative, and knew all of the best photo spots. We felt extremely welcomed and safe while being with her. The excursion started with a driving tour around Willemstad, learning about the history and culture, and then we made our way to Hato caves, viewing the beautiful scenery as we drove. Hate Caves is an area rich with history and unique formation. We were 2 out of 5 people on our tour and our Hato Cave's tour guide made the tour memorable. We then made our way to view the flamingos from which we had the rare opportunity to witness around 30+ flamingos bathing, feeding, and performing the famous flamingo dance. Lastly, we got to take in the sun rays at the beautiful Mambo beach and its crystal clear blue waters and white sand. Rossy was the best and helped create a memorable experience for our time in Curacao.

Curacao Beach and Hato Caves Tour
Nice tour with a good guide how showed us the highlights of Willemstad. The Caves are not that big but nice to see. Than we went to the flamingo park where we saw the flamingos from really close. After that we went to Kokomo Beach, what is a very nice beach with a lot of pelicans.

Curacao Beach and Hato Caves Tour
1. The bus was in a bad condition, poor a/c and seats. 2. The beach wasn't good , croupy, expensive 3. The flamingo’s - they do not take us to flamingo park- instead we saw flamingo only from the bus window
