Paleokastritsa, Greece

The Basics

Located on Corfu’s northwest coast, Paleokastritsa is usually included on most island tours or Corfu shore excursions. The island’s small size makes it easy to visit Paleokastritsa along with highlights such as Corfu Town, Achilleion Palace, and the Hill of Kanoni. Most Paleokastritsa tours make a beeline for the hilltop Monastery of Virgin Mary of Paleokastritsa, which offers panoramic views of the coastline.

A great day at the BEACH!
From pickup to drop off - this was the best excursion of our entire vacation. Blue Tours Corfu took excellent care of us. Kalispera met us at the port and got us on our way. Our driver was incredible and the time spent with my family on the beautiful beaches of Corfu will be cherished forever. Highly recommend Blue Tour Corfu - completely professional - top notch communication from Kalispera from booking to the walk back to the port .

Ypapanti- Paleokastritsa- Lakones - Old Town
We were fortunate to have booked this provider on a previous day for the palace and on this day the extended time taken was much appreciated as saw more than expected and was dropped off for a coffee with a view to die for and then a super lunch spot elsewhere. My daughter is a Durrell fan so he made a special stop for the house so thankyou so much we shall return as pretty much saw the whole island and loved it and weather was great too!

Private Tour of Corfu Beaches Paleokastritsa and Glyfada
This was a great tour from start to finish. Shortly after we booked, the tour operator reached out to personalize our group’s experience. Vicky went above and beyond to provide special accommodations due to the size of our party. But I suspect this company always tries to optimize any group/family’s time on their island. Everything went as planned ! They were waiting with a sign as soon as we disembarked our cruise ship. Then we boarded a luxury vehicle to the first stop. The bus driver was safe, courteous and the guide was passionately informative about Corfu. At Paleokastritas, we went on a small boat to visit the caves and then attended a beach club in Glyfada. Glyfada was a sandy beach with a sandbar so even the little ones could play out in the warm clear water. Out of the water, there was a full menu with cocktails and local cuisine. This was my group’s favorite excursion on our whole vacation. Partly due to the natural beauty of the island but moreso due to the dedication of this tour group to provide a first class experience for their guests.

How to Get There

Paleokastritsa is located on Corfu’s northwest coast, roughly 16 miles (25 kilometers) from Corfu Town. Buses run regularly between the two towns and take around 40 minutes, but if you plan to explore the surrounding villages and beaches, it’s a good idea to join a guided tour or organize private transport.

When to Get There

Summer (July through August) is the island’s busiest season, so arrive early to secure a good spot on the beach. Shoulder season (April through May or September through November) is a particularly good time to visit, when temperatures are still ideal for swimming and there are fewer crowds. During winter the water is typically too cold to swim, and many hotels and attractions may be closed.

Exploring the Beaches of Paleokastritsa

The coastline around Paleokastritsa is lined with sand and pebble beaches and the cool water is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and watersports. Boat trips around the bay allow you to cruise around small caves and rock pools, while during summer speedboats and water taxis hop between beaches.
